The dresses you are looking at are not made from silk or chiffon – they're made out of toilet paper.

Incredible, I know.

Toilet paper company Quilted Northern has challenged budding fashion designers everywhere to compete in its annual Toilet Paper wedding dress contest to see who can fashion the most beautiful garments using literal loo roll.

The contest, which is now in its 13th year, hosted 10 talented finalists who used an astonishing 247 ROLLS of paper combined to create their masterpieces.

The winner of the competition took home the $10,000 (not so shabby).

Judges Mikie Russo of celebrity wedding planner fame and Mara Urshel, owner of Kleinfeld Bridal, settled on designer Kari Curletto’s breathtaking gown.

The stunning winner which included a six-foot-long detachable train (also made of toilet paper) and 1,600 butterfly embellishments.

Moschino is a weird brand.

It's ultra-quirky, sticks to pop-culture like it's a religion, and well, it sometimes likes to take the mick out of itself.

For example, it designs clothes that looks like paper and plastic, but in reality, it's really expensive and functional material – just look at the previous Barbie and McDonald's collections.

However, this season, we feel like the brand has gone a bit too far because they used an actual roll of toilet paper in their latest runway.

Yep, it's not some cotton-blend of materials. It's toilet paper. With a chain running through it and Moschino printed on the front.

But, that wasn't the only weird thing about the season's collection. The brand's designer, Jeremy Scott, used a sock as a handbag, a duster as a hat, and a bracelet that looked like it was a cut-out tin can (God love the model who had to wear that – ouch!).

While we usually love Moschino's unusual style, we might opt out of well… everything from this collection.

What comes to mind when you think of Black Friday?

Laptops, wide-screen televisions, and a turkey-fuelled lust for shiny things at knockdown prices?

Yeah, us too.

But if rolling commentary from EWN Twitter account is anything to go by, the Friday following Thanksgiving is a clear illustration of countless people's grim financial circumstances.

While grappling over bumper packs of toilet roll could sum up the hysteria which generally descends once the last morsel of Thanksgiving turkey has been consumed, many people feel a recent Twitter upload is an indictment of significant economic hardship.

"Jesus this is terrible. People are fighting over TVs and they are fighting over toilet paper!" commented one.

"Just a tragic illustration of the low household income of millions of South Africans," wrote one.

"What hurts me is that most people will then not survive the rest of the next month because of money spent impulsively today," added another.

Meanwhile in the UK, reports of a stabbing during a Black Friday sale in Leeds City Centre have begun circulating.

While full details have yet to be confirmed, it is understood an off-duty police officer was stabbed after confronting a shoplifter in a branch of HMV.

Whether your big day is coming up or not, it’s hard not to be impressed by these amazing wedding dress creations.

Cheap-chic-weddings created a unique designer competition – where women had to create their own haute couture wedding gowns using nothing, but toilet paper.

The competition sponsored by Charmin (no surprises there) is in its tenth year and the dresses this year were so amazing, that you could easily imagined them being worn for someone’s special day.

Susan Brennan (bottom image) was crowned the winner and won the grand prize of $10,000. While we are in awe of these gorgeous dresses, we have to admit, they are probably not the most practical attire for our Irish weather.
