The boy bands to beat all boy bands has just been born!

Before One Direction left the UK to kick off the European leg of their Where We Are tour, they took part in a secret recording session with supergroup McBusted!

1D’s Niall Horan has confirmed that he and his bandmates have teamed up with McBusted to write, record and possibly perform together. Eek!

Niall said, “We worked with McFly on the last album but now it’s all about McBusted. It’s something really cool for me because the first gig I ever went to was Busted and McFly.

“[McBusted’s] James Bourne is a really talented songwriter so it’s exciting to have him as part of the mix.”

Niall’s confirmation comes after Danny Fletcher spilled the beans on Twitter.

He wrote, “Need to get an early night, working with @Dannymcfly on a new song we wrote with @NiallOfficial for 1D tomorrow. How ace is life!”

Tom Fletcher also let slip some band secrets, too.

“We’ve already written three new songs with Niall for their next album,” he said.

Bring on the boy band sandwich!

Matt Willis is apparently caught in a tug-of-love between his group McBusted and soap bosses at the BBC.

Matt is enjoying a lot of success with the Busted/McFly supergroup as they recently had a sell-out run at London’s O2 Arena, but apparently the chiefs at EastEnders are also desperate to sign him up.

Guitarist and former I’m a Celebrity winner Matt, 30, had a two-week stint in the show in February.

He played Luke Riley, boyfriend of Stacey Branning – actress Lacey Turner, 26

And the dad-of-two’s brief appearance, which helped pull in an impressive 7.4 million viewers, seems to have made a big impression on TV chiefs.

EastEnders’ executive producer Dominic Treadwill-Collins is reportedly keen to get him in the cast full time.

It’s decision time Matt!

Boyzone and Westlife are in talks about forming a new supergroup.

The singers are said to be giving serious consideration to following in the footsteps of McFly and Busted by joining powers to form a McBusted-type supergroup.

It seems Boyzone band member Shane Lynch let slip about the plans yesterday, saying it was something the two bands had been talking about for some time.

While the singers all have individual projects on the go, the timing of a supergroup would be pretty perfect, given the success McBusted has enjoyed this year.

Boyzone are currently still touring as a group and will be joining Sir Tom Jones and Little Mix on July 13th for the British Summer Time Festival at London’s Hyde Park.
