Well, well, well. The time has finally arrived for the return of Ireland's biggest music festival; Electric Picnic.

With some unbelievable headline acts such as The 1975, Billie Eilish, Florence and the Machine, The Strokes, Dermot Kennedy, Christine and the Queens and Freya Ridings, you can expect for your mind to be blown on numerous occasions in front of the Main Stage.

With festival season comes the prospect of camping for three full days in questionable Irish weather (rain is forecasted, are we shocked?), we've decided to put together a list of the best beauty products for the experience.

You'll need a tent, about a 52 pack of cans, maybe a 70cl of Smirnoff, rain ponchos, a bucket hat and a bum-bag, but what about your makeup bag? And your skincare routine?

Look no further, we've got it all sorted:

1. Misslyn's Desert Fire collection, from €5.95

Many festivals are now only accepting glitter which is biodegradable, considering the amount of plastic engrained in the substance and how much of it is spread around events like EP.

EcoStardust is just one of the gorgeous brands creating glitter which won't harm the planet as a result of you dancing your heart out to The 1975's The Sound.

Shop the colourful collections on their website, or on ASOS.

3. Fuschia's 'GlamHer' van to save the day

The legends that are Fuschia makeup are bringing their 'GlamHer' van to Electric Picnic to provide festival looks for anyone and everyone. We stan a gang of queens in that van.

The van will be down to greet all of your festival glitter needs at Electric Picnic, with the Fuschia Pro Team are attending in full force to kit you out in full festival makeup, a bath of glitter, body art and hair braiding.

Take the pain of that hungover morning tent rut and book yourself in to let Fuschia give you a 1990s-era iconic makeover.

Glossier are a cult beauty brand and once we tried one of their products, we just lost control of ourselves and became overwhelmingly addicted. Just one product can be the gateway into one of the greatest skincare brands in town, and their balm dot com skin salve is a fan favourite.

The hydrating, multipurpose lip balms and skin salves are packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture. You can choose the Original, or pick from seven mood-enhancing flavors:

Birthday (a subtle shimmer), Rose (a barely-there pink tint), Cherry (a sheer red tint), Mint, Coconut, Mango (a translucent coral tint), and Berry (a sheer berry tint) are all available for €12 each or €75 for the full set. So, if manicures are your go-to pay day treat, you'll know just how good a fresh set of gel nails can make you feel.

Not only do they look great, but they last for ages and the application process is incredibly simple.

However, it seems this little act of self-care doesn't come without some minor health risks.

Of course, at this stage we're all aware of the dangers of stepping outside sans suncream on a sweltering hot day, yet few of us realise that we are being exposed to those same UV rays when getting our nails done.

The Skin Cancer Foundation are speaking out in an effort to make people aware of the potential risks.

“Some nail lamps are called “UV” lamps, and some are called LED lamps, but both emit UV radiation. They predominantly produce UVA rays, which have been linked to both premature skin ageing and skin cancer,” says Elizabeth K Hale, Skin Cancer Foundation Senior Vice President.

However, she did note that the risks are far lower than those presented by the prolonged use of tanning beds.

“Even the most intense of these devices presents only a moderate UV risk – a far lower risk than that presented by UV tanning devices.”

But, if you do want to keep your hands looking young and fresh, simply smother your hands in factor 30+ at least 20 minutes before your manicure.

As the weather gets hot, hot, hot, it is important that you stay adequately protected from the sun. Unfortunately, while sunscreen is a vital beauty essential, it can leave your skin greasy which is not good if you are prone to spots or have sensitive skin.

If this is something that you can relate to, these suncreams will become your new BFFs:

Clinique Face Cream SPF
This sun protection has an SPF of 50, won’t leave your pores clogged and absorbs pretty quickly – no more waiting for it to soak in.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser
This oil-free moisturiser helps to protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays and also helps to even skin tone and bring out your skin’s natural radiance.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid
Perfect if you are heading to the beach. It is also great for using every day as it sits under your foundation without causing it to slide off your face.

SkinCeuticals Daily Sun Defense SPF 30
If you are prone to getting little spots and pimples every time you apply sunscreen, then this is the product for you. Perfect for sensitive skins – it won’t block your pores and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

We all know the risks associated with the sun, especially premature ageing and skin cancer. However, are you clued up when it comes to knowing which sunscreen is for you?

Who should wear it?
Sun cream is not just for pale ladies and everyone should wear it, regardless of whether you tan or not.

How long does it last?
It won’t last longer than two hours and less so if you are swimming. Sun cream is only water resistant and must be reapplied after bathing.

What type of suncream for me?
It is important you wear a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays.

How much should I put on?
You need to put at least an ounce of sunscreen on so that it is a layer over your skin.

When to apply?
Make sure you apply it at least 15 minutes before you step out into the sun.

What SPF?
Go for an SPF of at least 30, even if you tan and especially if you are planning on staying in the sun for a while.

As soon as we hit our mid-twenties we, apparently, need to start worrying about our wrinkles. Yes, from 24 years of age – what?!

According to the experts, we should start our anti-ageing regime from about 21 years of age!

However, before you start worrying that you’ll be the image of your granny before your time, now is more about protecting your skin from damaging effects like the sun rather than trying to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

According to Dr Tabi Leslie, spokesperson for The British Association of Dermatologists, it is all about suncream at this age. Dr Tabi says: “Our message at the British Association of Dermatologists is that the best way to avoid wrinkles is to keep out of the sun and to use a sun cream or a moisturiser with sunblock in it, preferably everyday,”

Dr Nick Lowe consultant dermatologist agrees: “Choose well-formulated sunscreens and a good cleansing routine as well as a healthy diet and you will see the benefits for many years ahead. Ignoring these factors will make you age faster”

Eek, better get the suncream out!

As the summer approaches, it’s time to stock up on suncream; unfortunately, finding a cream that is suitable for your face and won’t make you breakout can be difficult.

However, to help in your battle for the perfect suncream, La Roche-Posay has launched their Anthelios range which has products for all skin types and is suitable for sun sensitive skin.

The range includes Anthelios XL Ultra-light fluid with a factor 50+ and Anthelios XL Compact-cream factor 50+. The Ultra-light fluid offers protection against high UVB and UVA rays which can cause skin damage, a grey skin tone and wrinkles. It has a non-oily, glide-on texture that is invisible on the skin and is small enough to pop in your bag and carry it around with you.

The Compact-cream also offers high UVA and UVB protection but it smoothes skin texture and creates an even complexion. It is designed for the most sensitive of skin and melts in, leaving no residue on the face.

The range is suitable for normal to dry skin, combination and oily skin so you are bound to find one right for your skin type.
