You would be forgiven for feeling sceptical when it comes to the strobing beauty trend. The highlighting technique, if done incorrectly, could just leave you with a serious case of shiny face.

However, when used on hair the technique is apparently the next best thing.

Working in much the same way as contouring does for your face, hair strobing aims to aim shine and brightness to parts of the hair were light would naturally hit.

Using clever placement and contrast of colour two shades lighter and two shades darker than your natural hair colour can apparently be used to highlight your best features.

Speaking to Vogue, colourist Nalan Derby pointed out Gigi Hadid and Suki Waterhouse as strobing pros. Gigi specifically, and those amazing beachy waves or hers, have apparently managed to use the strobing technique to really make her features pop.

According to Nalan “her lights are more piecey than the blended balayage” we have seen before. No real shock there considering the model has quite a net worth these days.

“However it's just the right balance of light and shade to be the perfect illustration of how this strobing effect can lift the face."

Nalan doesn’t shy away from the bleach when it comes to getting the perfect shades for his clients. However, he does pride himself on maintaining the hair colour and condition.

The aftercare is the most important aspect of the strobing technique and he explains the products necessary for flawless hair are full of specific ingredients. The cleansing system and leave-in serum contain “potent antioxidants.”

“These bind to the hair surface, helping to instantly revitalise and strengthen damaged or colour processed hair."

New and bizarre make-up trends are constantly popping up all over the internet, some good, some bad and some very, very ugly.

But there are definitely a few worth taking a look at as they could change your beauty routine forever. Coming straight from the celebs with their #flawless selfies, here's everything you need to know.

Baking
If you want gorgeously illuminated eyes like J-Lo this is the beauty hack for you. Begin by putting a blendable concealer on your T-zone and under your eyes, then pat a yellow-toned loose powder on top. Let it sit for about ten minutes, allowing your body's own natural heat to bake the products together. After the time is up, wipe away any excess powder and you're good to go!

Strobing
This technique is actually quite simple and a much easier method than Kim K's signature contouring. Strobing focuses on highlighting prominent points of your face without any bronzer or shading powder. All you need to do is get your favourite highlighter – the type doesn't matter – and blend the product over the high points of your cheek bones, the bridge of your nose and cupids bow. Be careful and use a light hand as you don't want to look like a shiny disco ball.

Cut – Crease Eye Shadow
Playing with the placement of your crease can really give you a more exaggerated look, so this method is great if you want to give your eyes an instant boost. Simply apply a base coat all over your eye lid, and use a liquid liner to draw a dramatic cat-eye wing on your lid. Next, with an angled brush and a neutral shadow colour, create a curve until you hit the edge of your liner. Blend it upwards and hey presto – completely dramatic eye make up in an instant!

Over Lining
We can all thank Kylie Jenner for this one! To get her look (without having to resort to lip fillers) all you have to do is use a natural dark lip liner to outline all over the crease of your lips. The next step is to get a lighter shade of lipstick and smack it on your pout. And that's it, plumper lips without any hassle!

With so many new make-up techniques and trends taking over the world, it can be seriously hard to keep up.

Baking and strobing seem to be the latest two crazes that beauty bloggers are raving about but you still just can’t beat contouring.

Make-up artist Nadia El Ferdaoussi from Sleek Make Up has revealed the three easy steps to contouring like a pro.

Know where you need to contour

The places that you usually want to highlight are the cheekbones, the cupids of the bow of your upper lift and the bridge of your nose. Use lighter shimmery shades on these parts to give a glow to the skin. Use darker, matte shades to the areas you want to sculpt, such as the hairline, under the chin and the lower side of your cheekbones.

Find a formula that suits you

The face form palette and face contour kit from Sleek Make Up have darker matte powders for contouring and lighter pearlescent shades for highlighting that can also be used on the eyes.

Blend, blend, blend

The secret to contouring is subtlety so it is vital that you blend correctly. Always build your colour and coverage slowly. Use small fluffy natural hair brushes for powders and synthetic fibres or fingers for creams. Always make sure that there are no obvious lines around the edges.
