Patrick Dempsey

Grey’s Anatomy fans have experienced their fair share of grief since the show first aired.

We’ve had to wave goodbye to a devastating number of characters, including George, Mark and Lexie, but the one fictional death we’ll never get over is Derek Shepherd.

The episode where we said goodbye to Derek was one of the most-watched (and most upsetting) in the show’s history.

Ever the hero, Derek died after trying to save a family that was involved in a car accident.

We’ll never fully recover from the death of McDreamy. The show certainly hasn’t been the same since Patrick Dempsey departed.

As the star of the show, we couldn’t help but wonder why the actor wanted to leave. Patrick Dempsey admitted he knew it was the right time to leave when the storylines no longer interested him.

He told The I Paper: “Look, 10 years is a long time to be on any show. It’s very hard to keep the storylines intriguing, especially on a network show with 25 episodes a year. So for me, it was time to go.”

The Grey’s Anatomy alum added: “It’s nice to move on and have new challenges.”

Patrick is ready for a new chapter, but fans of the medical drama series just can’t seem to let go. He shared that they are eager for his character to return, despite his passing.

He laughed: “They want me to come back to the show which, given what happened to Derek, is really quite funny.”

Can we turn back time and skip Derek’s death episode? Life at Grey Sloan would be far better if McDreamy was still around.

Grey’s Anatomy doesn’t return until the autumn time but we are already feeling excited about the upcoming season thanks to the latest casting news.

Over the years we have had to wave goodbye to some of the most iconic characters including the dashing Derek Shepherd, the fiery Cristina Yang and most recently Arizona Robbins and April Kepner.

Fans of the show will know just how upsetting character exits can be, but this season you can look forward to saying hello to a new ‘Ortho God’.

Nashville star Chris Carmack has joined the cast of the beloved medical drama series.

You may recognise the actor from his days on The O.C where he starred as Luke Ward.

Grey’s Anatomy may be returning for a fifteenth season later this year, but we could be saying goodbye to Meredith, Bailey and co. sooner than we’d like.

Fans of the show have been on an emotional roller-coaster since day one, and despite all the tears we’ve cried, we still love the show.

Ellen Pompeo, who is the star of the show, recently admitted that the end of the popular medical drama series is nearing.

She told US Weekly, "We’re getting there. Shonda and I will make that decision together. There is an end. It’s nearing.”

Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for at least two more seasons, but who knows what will happen after season 16.

After confirming their reunion in May of this year, Patrick Dempsey made his first red carpet appearance with his wife Jillian at the premiere of Bridget Jones’ Baby.

Jillian filed for divorce from the former Grey’s Anatomy star after 15 years of marriage in January of last year.

However by the end of the year the pair were rumoured to have reconciled.

In May, Patrick confirmed the rumours that he and the mother of his three children, Tallulah, 12 and seven-year-old twin sons Sullivan and Darby, had called off the divorce.

The pair held hands as they walked the red carpet with their three beautiful children.

Jillian looked stunning in a black strapless number and it was clear her husband thought so as well as he took to Instagram to say:

We're delighted they're back together again!

Finally! After years of waiting, Bridget Jones is finally set to return to our screens – and she's not the only cast member from the two previous films who'll be coming back.

The third film, Bridget Jones's Baby, was originally thought to be based on the third of Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones books, in which Mr. Darcy sadly doesn't feature. But instead it appears the movie will take inspiration from Ms. Fielding's newspaper columns.

And a first look at the trailer confirms that yes, Colin Firth will indeed be back as the ever-attractive Mr. Darcy.

Starring alongside Renee and Colin is former Grey's Anatomy lead Patrick Dempsey, and while we've no idea of the character he'll be playing yet, we could definitely see him in a Hugh Grant-esque cheeky love rat role.

In the teeny-tiny trailer, an ultra-slim Bridget is seen dancing the night away, checking out music festivals and generally reliving her misspent youth.

If that 15-second snippet isn;t enough for you, panic not, because the full trailer is set to be released today.

For the last 10 years, birthday girl Ellen Pompeo has starred as Meredith Grey in the hit series, Grey's Anatomy.

She's remained a firm fan-favourite and one of the highest-paid TV actresses today.

In honour of her special day we are wishing her all the best on her birthday!

However, it did get us thinking about how close her alter-ego Meredith has come to her last birthday. Multiple times.

Any fans of Grey's will tell you that series creator Shonda Rhimes does not hesitate in putting her fans through emotional on a weekly basis.

What are the chances that any of these outrageous incidents would happen to one single person?

Seriously!?

1. She holds a bomb inside a patient’s body. Which then explodes just after she hands it off to Dillon.

2. She drowns

3. She gets far too close to a distraught gunman.

4. A Seattle resident has a pet lion. And the lion escapes

5. She's in the plane crash!

6. She's exposed to toxic blood, for a very long time.

Happy birthday Meredith Grey, you ridiculous human being.

Ten months apart has been time enough for Patrick Dempsey and Jillian Fink, it seems.

The pair split back in January after fifteen years of marriage, but were spotted in Paris just yesterday looking very much the happy couple.

Wearing sunglasses and dark sweaters, Patrick and Jillian held hands as they strolled through the streets, making it clear they are now more than just friends.

The couple's split was followed just two months later by the shock announcement that Patrick was finishing up his eleven-year tenure on Grey's Anatomy.

Both announcements were strongly linked to rumours Patrick had started up a fling with "a young woman" who worked on the set of the show.

According to reports at the time, Patrick's co-star Ellen Pompeo got wind of got was going on and blew the whistle to both Jillian and the show's creator Shonda Rhimes.

Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, Shonda Rhimes issued a touching tribute after the show aired, saying, "Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character – for Meredith, for me and for the fans.

"I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our 'McDreamy'… His loss will be felt by all."

And while Shonda may not be ready to give Patrick another chance, it seems Jillian is.

The celebrity make-up artist has kept Patrick's surname on all of her social media accounts, still going by her married name of Jilian Dempsey.

Patrick himself took to Instagram yesterday to share this romantic snap of the French capital:

The couple, who are parents to 12-year-old Tallulah and seven-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby, certainly seem to be giving things another go.

It's here! At last we've been given a fresh glimpse of Bridget Jones… for the first time in more than a decade (incredibly, The Edge Of Reason, was released back in 2004).

With the third instalment, Bridget Jones's Baby, landing in less than a year – September 16 to be exact – the movie's producers have finally shared brand-new and updated snap of the franchise's lovable protagonist.

And – shock! – gone is her iconic red diary, replaced instead with an iPad (though it too has been clad in a red cover).

Filming is now under way, with Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth both back on set in London.

Sadly, Daniel Cleaver won’t be putting in an appearance (actor Hugh Grant declined to take part) but Grey’s Anatomy hottie Patrick Dempsey has instead stepped up to the plate – playing an as of yet undisclosed new character.

The new film is said to be based on author Helen Fielding’s newspaper columns, rather than the third book, Mad About The Boy, which was released in 2013.

Of course, as reported by SHEmazing! at the time, the movie's very first scenes were filmed at Ed Sheeran's Croke Park concert back in August.

Following McDreamy’s exit from Grey’s Anatomy, it seems that Patrick Dempsey can’t quite shake the love of romantic ‘dramedy’ type projects just yet.

Deadline reports that the actor is in final negotiations to join the cast of Bridget Jones’s Baby.

The much-anticipated third installment of the franchise will see Renee Zellweger reprise her role as the unlucky and general mishap prone publishing executive. As Bridget enters her 40s, she finds herself unexpectedly expecting.

Most other plot details are being kept quiet and Patrick’s role has not yet been identified. The father of Bridget’s baby is also unknown, for now.

Seeing as Colin Firth will be returning to play love interest Mark Darcy, we know of at least two possible fathers to be named by the end of the film.

While Hugh Grant will not be returning, Sharon Maguire, who directed the original Bridget Jones will be back at the helm this time around.

The story is believed to be based on columns written by the creator of the series Helen Fielding, not her latest novel Mad About The Boy.

This latest addition to the franchise is shaping up to be quite star packed. This summer the news came that Ed Sheeran would also be featuring in the film. He is not going to be another of Bridget’s possible love interests however, although who knows.

Instead it was announced that Ed Sheeran’s hugely successful Croke Park gigs would be featured in the film. The Irish Sun reported that scenes were shot using Renée’s body double sitting on a mystery man’s shoulder.

Just who could the mystery man be we wonder.

In the last year Shonda Rhimes has been getting an awful lot of grief from Grey’s Anatomy fans. If you or anyone in your life was a Grey’s fan, specifically if they were fond of one Dr. McDreamy, then you probably heard all about it.

In the latest season he came to an untimely ending and fans were not happy. Not one bit.

This week Shonda has revealed that she didn’t do it entirely out a need to make her fans cry, well, that’s what she claims anyway.

She explained that with Patrick Dempsey, who played handsome brain surgeon Derek Shepherd for almost 11 years, exiting the show she saw no other way to wrap up his storyline.

"What were the options? Either Der was going to walk out on Mer and leave her high and dry, and what was that going to mean?"

So, instead of breaking Meredith’s heart she decided to go and break the hearts of her millions of viewers instead. Nice Shonda.

"As painful as it was for me as a storyteller, the only way to preserve what felt true to me was Derek was going to have to die for that love to remain honest."

She went on to say that next season will be a “rebirth” of sorts:

"We do have this world in which Meredith is single, and she is living this life that she hadn't thought she was going to be living again.”

To be honest, we hadn’t thought of a world where one of television’s most pivotal couples was going to be ripped away from us either.

Spoilers ahead!

Fans of the long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy were left shocked last month when one of the show's most beloved actors, Patrick Dempsey, ended his eleven year tenure on the show in a tragic episode which saw him being killed off.

However now it seems that Patrick's departure was not his own decision, but that of the show's producers, after the actor got involved in an "inappropriate relationship" on set.

According to a new report by InTouch, Patrick's onscreen wife Ellen Pompeo found out about his romantic involvement with "a young woman who worked on the set," and told both Patrick's wife of eleven years Jillian Fink and the show's creator Shonda Rhimes, leading to ABC's decision to fire him from the show.

News of Patrick's sudden exit from Grey's Anatomy came just months after Jillian filed for divorce, something it's strongly believed is linked to the revelation that Patrick had been unfaithful.

In Dr Shepherd's final episode, which aired in the US on April 23rd, the neurosurgeon is seen stopping to help the victims of a car crash on an open road when he is slammed into by a truck.

Having suffered major head trauma, he is later declared brain dead, bringing his time on the show to a tragic close.

Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, Shonda Rhimes issued a touching tribute after the show aired, saying, "Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character – for Meredith, for me and for the fans. I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our 'McDreamy'… His loss will be felt by all."

As for Patrick, he said his own goodbye with a message on Twitter which read, "I want to thank all the fans, what an incredible 11 yrs, I love you all."

The actor has three children with his estranged wife Jillian, 13-year-old Talula and eight-year-old twins Darby and Sullivan.

This morning we reported that singers Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have called time on their relationship, and now it seems that another couple has called it quits.

It has been revealed that Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey and his wife of 15 years, Jillian Fink, are filing for divorce.

In a statement released to Us Weekly, Dempsey – known for his role as Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd – said: “It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage.”

The couple, who are parents to 12-year-old Tallulah and seven-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby, added: “Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time.”

While the couple do not have a prenup, it is understood that Fink is looking for spousal support from Dempsey.

This is very sad news for the couple and their children.
