If there's one thing that Bruno Mars won't accept, it's accusations that he lip-syncs when he takes to the stage to perform.

After appearing on X Factor last month, the Locked Out of Heaven singer was subject to criticism that he had mimed 24K Magic – something which he adamantly denied during an interview with NME this week.

Sounding pretty outraged by the speculation, Bruno said he can take most things that are thrown at him over the course of his career, but he won't let this one slide.

“I was reading something about me miming. Which is… well, you can say anything you want about me or my music, or make any kind of joke you want, but that to me is like, well, I’m going to get extremely insulted.”

Reflecting on the rumours that circulated following his X Factor performance, Bruno sounded genuinely insulted by the public's perception of  his performance.

"You have no idea how hard we rehearse. Just seeing that, it blew me away. Like, ‘What are they seeing? What do you mean!?" he asked.

The singer, who is due to play Dublin next year, insisted that the idea of lip-syncing is not something he would ever accept from himself or anyone else.

"Never! I’ve never lip-synced. I could have a 150-degree fever and I’ll still be up there, singing live. That’s our profession. That’s what we do.” he finished.

Right, now let that be the end of it…

Harry Styles was a big winner at last night’s NME Awards, although it probably wasn’t the type of award he is used to. The One Direction star came away with Villain of the Year – aww, poor Harry!

Harry wasn’t the only one targeted though – The 1975 won the award for Worst Band.

Artic Monkeys continued their winning streak, following last week’s Brit Awards, leaving with five awards last night, including Best Album and Best Band.

Surprisingly, Lily Allen beat David Bowie, Kanye West and Paul McCartney to walk away with Best Solo Artist. We have to say we were not expecting that! Her new album Sheezus, a homage to Kanye’s Yeezus, is expected to be released this summer.

Blondie was honoured with a Godlike Genius Award – now that we definitely agree with!

The NME awards nominees are here and the ceremony has been scheduled for the 26th February at London’s O2 Academy.

The Artic Monkeys are back with a massive bang and have been nominated for eight awards this year! The nominations include Best Album, Best Live Band and a Hero of the Year nomination for frontman Alex Turner.

Not far behind them, and stiff competition for the Best Live Band award, is Haim. The Californian band will also be up for Best Music Video as well as five other nominations. Not bad for their first NME awards!

Villian of the Year nominees include Russell Brand, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke (shocker) amongst others. In a strange turn of events, Russell Brand will also be up for the Hero of the Year awards.

Arcade Fire, who wowed audiences with their new album this year, will be up for one NME award, as will Lily Allen who also marked 2013 as her comeback year.
