18 people were admitted to hospital, with three in critical condition, after a man drove his car into a crowd of pedestrians in Melbourne yesterday.

One of those injured was a 25-year-old Irish citizen, a woman who is now in stable condition, the Independent.ie reports.

The three people in critical condition are a pair of South Korean men, aged 61 and 67, and an 87-year-old Melbourne native.

The youngest victim, a four-year-old boy from South Korea, is thankfully stable. Several others remain in hospital, including foreign nationals from India, China, and Venezuela.

The suspect, Saeed Noori, explained that some of his actions were motivated by the 'treatment of Muslims', police said.

The Independent.ie reports that despite this sentiment, police emphasise that there were no terrorist links found in their initial investigation.

Noori is a 32-year-old Australian citizen with a history of mental illness and drug abuse. He is currently in police custody.

The suspect, who is of Afghan heritage, was convicted of assault in 2010.

He is believed to have been receiving treatment for his mental health.

"Obviously we've done search warrants last night and we haven't found anything at all to indicate his linkage or involvement with any type of extremism, with any terrorist organisation or anything of a terrorist nature," said Victoria Police acting commissioner Shane Patton.

"So given the mental illness background and everything we need to step carefully and the investigation is ongoing."

We've had avolattes and avocado art and we survived, but the notions radiating from the latest viral food trend has us shook.

Whether you spread it on toast or smother your pancakes in it, there is no denying that Nutella is an exceptionally delicious chocolate treat.

One of the most satisfying ways to consume the hazelnut spread is to simply slurp it directly off the spoon,

A post shared by browncardigan.com (@browncardigan) on

A sneaky spoonful is heaven on earth, but we'd never pay a fiver for the pleasure of doing so.

After all, you'd get an entire jar for that price, so why would anyone in their right minds think that the public would part ways with five quid for a paltry sampling of the stuff.

This is exactly what one Melbourne Cafe, Spoonful of Sugar, has allegedly tried to make 'a thing.'

The cafe, which is said to be hosting a pop-up store in a secret location soon, also boasts spoonfuls of peanut butter and jelly and butterscotch on the menu.

Some foodie fans are critical of the Spoonful of Sugar concept, speculating that the cafe is a bit of a hoax.

However, the owner of the page confirmed to Buzzfeed that the cafe was happening.

Bit of a pisstake?

We think so, otherwise the hipster food trends of 2017 are getting out of hand.

When Adele sings, you stop and listen.

And when she lets rip at you, you definitely take heed… as one security guard at her recent Melbourne show learned.

In footage which is doing the rounds on Twitter today, the London-born singer interrupts her performance to tell a security guard to rein in the orders he was giving her audience.

"Excuse me sir,” she said. “I know you work here but can you please stop telling people to sit down?"

Reminding him that her fans were entitled to stand up and dance if they wanted, she added: "This is a music show, if people can’t see then they can stand up. And if you’re moaning about people dancing, then what the f*ck did you come to a show for?"

"If I see one more person being told to sit down, then I swear to God…” she added as the crowd cheered her on.

Unfortunately not everyone is with Adele on this one, with numerous Twitters users criticising the singer for unnecessarily embarrassing the guard.

"Great to see #Adele belittling and embarrassing a security guard for just doing his job," wrote one.

"B*llocks. If you want to dance go to a dance hall, not a concert. A seat is exactly what it says, a seat!" added another,

Hmmm…

OK – so we always suspected that Katy Perry wasn't the kinda gal that you mess not.

But then, we love the Roar songstress for her ability to speak up and speak out.

And it seems that Ms Perry isn't afraid to put her critics firmly in their place either – especially when they're questioning her singing ability.

At a concert in Melbourne, staged as part of her massive, on-going Prismatic World Tour, Katy asked a fan in the audience for her phone so she could take a selfie.

Upon inspecting the device, however, the singer realised that the woman was in the middle of a WhatsApp conversation – and that the guy at the other end of the messages had stated Ms Perry "couldn't sing live at all".

Responding, the 30-year-old megastar takes a selfie, which she duly sends to her detractor along with the scathing line: "You thought I would never see this chat. You dickless monkey. You have no balls, pussy. C***."

Ouch.

Katy is also horrified to hear subsequently that the man is actually an EX boyfriend of the concert-goer.

"What are you doing?" she asks. "Do NOT text your ex."

It seems that the incident took place late last year – but has only came to light over the last few days when the lady to whom the phone belongs shared the interaction online.

Queen Bee is the inspiration for many things in life – but this we were definitely NOT expecting.

Yes, a new skyscraper is going up in Melbourne and it's shaped like, well, like Beyonce.

The building is inspired by Beyonce's curves in one of her music videos, Ghost.

In a statement the building's architect said that "the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic," which we think is architect-speak for '"it'll be lovely".

And while the so-called Premier Tower building may looks like Beyonce's hourglass figure, it serves a purpose too: it will function as retail and residential space and will contain some 660 apartments, as well as a 160-room hotel.

Computer-aided design even let's us see a generated image of what the 226metre high structure is expected to look like.

This isn't the first time a building is based off a celebrity body, mind. The Toronto towers were modelled off the hourglass figure of Marilyn Monroe.
