Days after her sudden death following a Kodaline concert in Marlay Park last weekend, Ciara Lawlor has been laid to rest in her native Kilkenny.

The Dublin four-piece flew in from the UK to pay their respects to the 17-year-old girl who passed away after falling ill during their gig in Rathfarnham on July 8th.

According to the Irish Independent, the band joined Ciara's classmates in a heartfelt rendition of High Hopes as parish priest, Fr. Frank Purcell, paid tribute to the 'vivacious' secondary school student during her funeral at Saint John's church in Kilkenny today.

Due to sit her Leaving Cert next year, Ciara, who is understood to have had an underlying medical condition, was described by her heartbroken parents as "down to earth, a friend to everyone, a real people person."

Releasing a statement following Ciara's untimely passing, Kodaline spoke of their regret on Facebook, writing: "We are so saddened to say that during our concert at Marlay Park, a 17-year-old girl with a pre-existing medical condition suddenly became ill."

"We were shocked and devastated to be informed yesterday that despite the best efforts of all medical teams, she passed away in hospital."

"Our immediate thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased. We wish to extend our condolences on behalf of us and all of our crew," they added.

Ciara is survived by her parents, John and Eimear, and her brothers Barry and Jack.

A teenager from Kilkenny has died after collapsing at a Kodaline concert in Marlay Park on Friday night.

The 17-year-old girl was assisted by medical staff at the venue before being rushed to Tallaght Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to Independent.ie, the girl had underlying health issues and Gardai are not treating the death as suspicious.

A Garda spokesperson told The Irish Sun: "A 17-year-old girl took ill at a concert in Marlay Park on Friday July 8.”

“She was treated at the medical centre on site before being transferred to Tallaght Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short while later.”

"A Garda report will be prepared for the coroner and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the direction of a Garda investigation."

Concert organisers MCD have released a statement on behalf of themselves and the band saying: "Kodaline and MCD’s immediate thoughts are with the family, relatives and friends of the deceased at their very sad loss.”

"The on-site medical team of doctors and paramedics immediately treated the young lady who was transferred to hospital by one of the on site ambulances.”

Kodaline took to the stage at Marlay Park last night for an epic summer gig.

But we all know the deal with concerts and queues; no matter where you go, you know you'll end up waiting in line for 20 minutes.

So, to make the crowd liven up, one security man knocked out some deadly dance moves to keep the people entertained – and it actually looks like they're all having gas craic:

We think a security guard like him should become compulsory at concerts!

Kodaline and U2 gave Kings of Leon a big Irish welcome after their massive gig in Dublin last night!

Lead singer Jared Followill posted a snap and video to Instagram, showing the gift they received from Kodaline – their own Guinness pump – with a note that read, ‘Happy 4th of July from Kodaline. Have a few cheeky Guinness on us…’

A FEW?!

The video was accompanied by the caption, “Lots of classy Irish folks! Thanks for the pints, boys!”

Their mega gift from Bono and the boys was a hamper of pricey champagne and, of course, more Guinness!

Jared posted the snap to Instagram with the caption, “Always classy. Always welcoming. The band that taught us how to do things on the road”.

We’re sure KOL  had a night to remember…or not, after their epic Marlay Park gig, thank to our Irish stars!

It’s bound to be a night of epic proportions for music goers tonight as Kings of Leon take the stage in Dublin’s Marlay Park.

Promoters MCD are urging fans to book travel arrangements AHEAD of the concert tonight.

The warning comes after last week’s Arcade Fire concert when many people were left without transportation and had to walk for hours.

The shuttle bus, Marathon Coach, that runs between the city and Marlay Park is sold out until 6pm and people are being urged to give themselves plenty of time to get to the venue.

It has also been urged that fans use public transportation in order to reduce the amount of traffic in the area.

It has also been noted that umbrellas are banned from the event and so concert-goers should bring rain gear in case the weather takes a turn for the worst.

Gates open at 5pm.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Kim will be returning once again to our Irish shores.

The reality star will apparently be at Kanye’s side while he’s staying in Dublin for his concert at Marlay Park next week.

But if that wasn’t enough, it looks like Kim and Kanye might even make a  return to their famous honeymoon spot in Limerick.

Treaty County guides owner, Fergal Somers  said he received an e-mail from the newly-weds who both expressed a huge interest in returning to their Limerick spot.

“I did get an email to thank us. It was signed by both of them. Kanye is due to be back in Dublin next week for a concert and he said on the email that if they have time they might come back down.”

Kanye will be performing with Pharrell (who dropped out of nightclub appearance in Newry) at the outside gig next Wednesday.

So keep an eye out ladies, who knows where we’ll see Kimye next?
