Louise McSharry has revealed that she will return to RTE 2FM with a brand new show this September, and we're over the moon for the radio star.

While she was keeping very tight-lipped about her new gig, the popular DJ hinted that she will be moving away from the evening slot lifestyle.

The 2FM host, who is off on maternity leave, told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I am going back in September to do a new show.

“I can’t really say too much more about it yet but I am really excited about it. It won’t be in the evening.”

It was recently announced that her friend Tara Stewart would be permanently taking over her regular weekday music show from 7pm until 10pm, as part of the new summer schedule for the radios station.

Louise conceded that she initially felt extremely protective over the slot, Louise is convinced that Tara is the best gal for the job.

“A million percent, Tara is exactly the right person, she has her finger on the pulse when it comes to music and everything else," she explained.

“And you need someone, if you are doing a new music show, that it is not an effort for them, where they are naturally clued in and she is 100 percent that person.”

The mum-of-two is adjusting to family life with one-month-old Ted and two-year-old Sam, and hasn't even had time to listen to the new schedule;

“Not really, I’ve heard a teeny tiny bit of it and I just haven’t been listening to the radio at all at the minute."

She expressed her excitement for Tara's radio career taking off;

“But I am so excited and Tara is starting her show and I am super excited about that, myself and Tara are great friends and obviously I feel protective over that slot because I was in it for five years but I couldn’t be happier for someone to take it over.”

Louise's husband Gordon Spierin has been helping out at home since Ted was born.

"My husband got the two weeks paternity leave and then he is taking two weeks annual leave as well so to be honest it has been amazing to have him and it has made the whole thing so much easier."

She pressed the need for equality in the home after the birth of a child;

“I know the statutory paternity leave is increasing to four weeks soon and I am just like the sooner that happens the better and the more that happens the better because it just means we have much more equal roles in everything in the house, and with the kids and everything.

“And it is a great comfort to me and puts much less pressure on me to kind of get everything together quickly."

We can't wait to hear her brand new show this September, you go girl.

Just in case you thought I meant a dog or something.)”

Louise captioned the snap, "This is my life now," which we're sure many new mums can relate to.

So far, Louise has been keeping her little tot under the radar, but revealed to Stellar that she might be more open with him in the future.

"I'll probably want to share about my baby, but I'll talk to my husband about it because he's quite private."

Fair enough, but we'd love to see some pictures of her adorable new addition!

It's no secret that half the country was regularly revitalised with litres of 7UP in the Eighties and Nineties.

Still, a far newer lemon-and-lime beverage has been muscling in on our thirsty ways since it launched in 2001.

Step forward Sprite – always somewhat of a controversial alternative to its longer-established rival, but nonetheless a formidable option for those in the market for a citrus-based fizzy drink.

Sadly for Sprite, however, the brand endured a bit of a battering on social-media today – with its #BrutallyRefreshing campaign drawing in plenty of hard-hitting criticism.

Brandishing deeply uncomfortable taglines such as "she's seen more ceilings than Michelangelo"; "you're not popular, you're easy", and "a 2 at 10 is a 10 at 2," it appeared on a male-focused lifestyle website before hastily being removed as the backlash took off.

Conversation on the matter remained in full flow online this evening – with outraged Twitter users being quick to express their disdain for the advert.

Among them was popular 2fm host Louise McSharry. Sharing a screen-shot of the offending campaign, she asked her 15K followers: "SERIOUSLY with this takeover in 2016?" The message later received close-to 100 retweets and the same number of likes.

A response to Louise from the editor of the site admitted that the ad didn't reflect its "brand values". "It shouldn't have been there and it has since been removed," he added.

Still, further comments online called the ads "appalling and disgusting," while one person stated: "Sprite's sexist 'banter' marketing campaign tastes old and flat. On the boycott list!"

Others were more playful, however; one user's lighthearted commentary read: "Kinda impressed by how awful Sprite's #BrutallyRefreshing campaign is.

"It looks like someone in advertising was trying to get fired."

Meanwhile, plenty of others simply stated their sudden craving for a cool, refreshing – and non-insulting – bottle of 7UP.

Sweating, exhausted from chemo, and surrounded by reality TV cameras – it’s no wonder that Louise McSharry’s bridal boutique experiences fell somewhat short of the fairytale.

“I wasn't ready to go shopping,” the popular 2fm presenter admitted earlier today at the launch of RTÉ2's new season schedule at the station's Montrose campus.

“I'd done the Late Late Show the night before and I’d had chemotherapy the previous Tuesday so I was exhausted.”

The 32-year-old was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma last year, and spent much of early 2015 filming for her forthcoming show, Reality Bites: F**k Cancer.

“One of the side effects for me with chemo was having really bad hot flashes,” she added, explaining that one particular outlet she visited had no ventilation.

“I was sweating SO much!” she laughed.

Unsurprisingly, and despite being surrounded by “beautiful” dresses, Louise admitted she felt uncomfortable the whole time.

“Anybody who has gone wedding dress shopping knows that they only have them in one size and that is never my size, so I was trying to squeeze myself in to dresses that didn’t fit me.

"It was just a really bad day.”

Today, Ms. McSharry – who was adamant she’d avoid a pre-ceremony crash-diet – said that her experience was far from unique.

"I’ve heard horror stories from friends who've been told to wear Spanx or lose weight, but if anyone had said that to me I honestly would have ripped their face off because it's bullsh*t.

"The idea that you need to have a particular body for your wedding – I don’t buy into any of that.

"I found the whole wedding dress shopping thing really difficult in that regard.”

Thankfully, she eventually found her dream gown at the Bridal Corner in Glasnevin,  on the recommendation of a nurse treating her in hospital.

“The shop happened to be right outside my house and I went there with just one friend, really low key, and that was when I found stuff I liked.”

And without a doubt, she looked absolutely stunning on her big day – marrying long-term partner Gordon Spearin last month in front of friends and family in Co. Cork.

Meanwhile, though many newlywed couples might put starting a family on the long finger, Louise says it’s at the forefront of her mind.

“My eggs are decimated. I was given an injection during treatment to help my ovaries take cover and go back to normal after chemo but I went for fertility testing a couple of months ago and it wasn’t good news,” she explained.

“I definitely want a family 100 percent, but we’ll just have to wait and see and let nature take its course.”

Yesterday in Cork, 2FM radio DJ Louise McSharry married her partner Gordon Spierin.

Earlier on this week Louise took to twitter to post the message “what a difference a year makes,” as it marked one year since she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Louise received good news in March when her doctors informed her she was in remission.

The 32-year old took a brief break from radio but has since resumed her position on the air waves every weekday evening.

Leading up the big day the DJ gave us all an intimate look at her wedding preparations. One of which, the most important one we imagine, was watching Magic Mike on repeat the morning of her wedding.

The pair married in an intimate ceremony in the luxurious Ballinacurra House outside Kinsale.

The location is often noted for the privacy which it offers it’s guests. Set in a secluded and very pretty woodland, the beautiful house was one of the destinations sought by none other than Kanye West for his honeymoon with wife Kim Kardashian.

In 2006 the house was also famed after it was chosen by Michael Jackson as the location he chose to stay with his children. At the time he was hoping to stay somewhere quiet and private as a respite from the pressures of fame.

The Dublin native Louise admitted that the night before her wedding she slept in her ‘Yes Equality’ t-shirt, she admitted on twitter that “it only seemed right.”

Throughout the day she received huge numbers of supportive messages to congratulate her on the big day. 2Fm posted photos of the much-loved DJ in her beautiful gown on their twitter page for fans to see.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

There is simply amazing news for Louise McSharry today as the radio presenter revealed earlier today that she no longer has cancer.

Louise chose today to make her great announcement as it is Daffodil Day, taking to Twitter and writing: “So #DaffodilDay seems like the perfect day to tell you that I got the results of my scan, and I don’t have cancer anymore!”

Louise was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last year and has been receiving treatment for the illness.

The 2fm star went on to thank the staff in the hospital where she was treated as well as sending her best wishes to those who  are currently dealing with cancer: “It turns out modern medicine is very effective. Also, the incredible staff of Vincent’s Ward in the Mater are unstoppable … Thinking a lot about people still dealing with cancer or have just been diagnosed. I won’t ever stop I don’t think, as I have been so luck.”

We are over the moon that Louise has gotten such amazing news and hope she has some fun celebrating this wonderful day!

RTÉ 2fm presenter Louise McSharry was last year diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and is currently undergoing a gruelling course of chemotherapy to combat it.

Rather than shying away from the issue, the well-known Dubliner has inspired many by sharing her journey, wigs n' all, on social media.

The presenter today posted an update from hospital, saying, "I think I have reached peak cancer appearance. Baldy, no eyebrows, no eyelashes, look a bit like Matt Lucas. Yep."

Matt Lucas would kill for those giant baby blues we reckon…

Louise revealed back in August that she would be taking a break from her 2fm show to focus on her recovery, telling Ryan Tubridy that she had "genuinely no doubt" she would be fine.

Her diagnosis came after Louise noticed a strange pain in her side which prompted her to visit a doctor.

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery, Louise.
