Well, well, well. The time has finally arrived for the return of Ireland's biggest music festival; Electric Picnic.

With some unbelievable headline acts such as The 1975, Billie Eilish, Florence and the Machine, The Strokes, Dermot Kennedy, Christine and the Queens and Freya Ridings, you can expect for your mind to be blown on numerous occasions in front of the Main Stage.

With festival season comes the prospect of camping for three full days in questionable Irish weather (rain is forecasted, are we shocked?), we've decided to put together a list of the best beauty products for the experience.

You'll need a tent, about a 52 pack of cans, maybe a 70cl of Smirnoff, rain ponchos, a bucket hat and a bum-bag, but what about your makeup bag? And your skincare routine?

Look no further, we've got it all sorted:

1. Misslyn's Desert Fire collection, from €5.95

Many festivals are now only accepting glitter which is biodegradable, considering the amount of plastic engrained in the substance and how much of it is spread around events like EP.

EcoStardust is just one of the gorgeous brands creating glitter which won't harm the planet as a result of you dancing your heart out to The 1975's The Sound.

Shop the colourful collections on their website, or on ASOS.

3. Fuschia's 'GlamHer' van to save the day

The legends that are Fuschia makeup are bringing their 'GlamHer' van to Electric Picnic to provide festival looks for anyone and everyone. We stan a gang of queens in that van.

The van will be down to greet all of your festival glitter needs at Electric Picnic, with the Fuschia Pro Team are attending in full force to kit you out in full festival makeup, a bath of glitter, body art and hair braiding.

Take the pain of that hungover morning tent rut and book yourself in to let Fuschia give you a 1990s-era iconic makeover.

Keilidh MUA describes the palette as her two make up personas, Grunge Vs Insta Fun;

“I continuously struggle to find that one palette that I can take anywhere which contains all of my favourite eyeshadow shades. My ultimate goal was to create a palette that would inspire everyone to play with colour and get creative. Release your inner freak.” We will indeed, gal.

It's just as effective as conventional hand sanitisers, but uses none of the same chemicals. It's perfect for using on the go at a festival, keep it in your bum bag at all times. Why not sanitise with a healthy conscience.

Glossier are a cult beauty brand and once we tried one of their products, we just lost control of ourselves and became overwhelmingly addicted. Just one product can be the gateway into one of the greatest skincare brands in town, and their balm dot com skin salve is a fan favourite.

The hydrating, multipurpose lip balms and skin salves are packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture. You can choose the Original, or pick from seven mood-enhancing flavors:

Birthday (a subtle shimmer), Rose (a barely-there pink tint), Cherry (a sheer red tint), Mint, Coconut, Mango (a translucent coral tint), and Berry (a sheer berry tint) are all available for €12 each or €75 for the full set. Being blonde has it's perks, but staying blonde is another story altogether.

From maintenance to conditioning to frizz, bleaching your hair blonde brings annoyances alongside the shimmering golden fierceness.

Watching those dark roots emerge while checking your bank balance and realising that you can't afford to get them bleached professionally is a special kind of heartbreak.

Seeing those unwanted brassy yellow tones seeping through sends shivers down my spine, as a gal who has white/silver hair. Banishing yellow has been super easy for me since I began using the brand Fanola:

A post shared by Fanola Professional USA (@fanola) on

Otherwise known as the purple shampoo GODS, I was stunned at how amazing the results are. It does dry out the hair, but it's worth it if you pair it with a good conditioner, or use Olaplex

Olaplex has saved my bleached barnet by using specialist chemicals to legit bind the hair together and protect it from the damage of bleach.

The salon Cowboys & Angels on South William Street in Dublin SWEAR by it, and for good reason; It really does work.

I've tried using 'big brand' or high street purple shampoos, and normally they're an absolute train-wreck. Their bleach and toners are a pure mess, NEVER use them.

Always go to the profesh gals for bleaching your hair; the cheap ones in Boots will just damage your gorgeous locks and you'll have to pay to fix it anyway.

As someone who had to purge my hair three times to have green hues removed, it's always an imperative idea to go to the salon.

John Frieda, I'm looking at you. Bleach London, y'all need to do some WORK. So I was extremely sceptical when I tried L'Oreal Paris Elvive' new purple shampoo.

Only the professional salon brands like Fanola normally work, but I was hugely impressed by L'Oreal Paris Elvive's efforts. Their new campaign is fronted by none other than Helen Mirren, and they have vowed to banish yellow hues.

Their purple shampoo and conditioner promises to "act as a colour corrector by counteracting and neutralising undesired yellow and orange tones" to leave your hair bright and cool. That's quite the promise…

Purple formulas, often called silver shampoos, are used on white, silver and dyed blonde hair to keep them looking fresh and light coloured. Purple is the opposite to yellow on the colour wheel, and works to cancel out the sunny tones.

I should mention, my hair was bleached blonder than it's natural dark blonde tone, then a silver/lilac toner was used.

My toner unfortunately allows pink shades to seep through, but after using L'Oreal Paris Elvive's purple shampoo, the hair was noticeably less pink. I wanted lilac realness and I got it, so it's a job well done in my eyes.

My hair also didn't feel as dried out, after pairing it with the matching L'Oreal Paris Elvive Purple conditioner.

It's only necessary to use purple shampoo once a week, and leave it in the hair for one to three minutes for excellent results. While still no match for Fanola, my hair has returned to a more lilac tone rather than unwanted yellow and pink.

I would 100 percent recommend the shampoo for bleached blondes, or even highlighted brunettes, as it's far cheaper than Fanola.

Cowboys & Angels sell Fanola's purple shampoo relatively cheap compared to it's marketed price, but you'd struggle to find their no yellow shampoo online for under €20.

At €8.95 each for the shampoo and conditioner, L'Oreal Paris Elvive allows you to get blonder on a budget.

If Helen Mirren is on board, then by GOD so are we; She can do no wrong.

Overall, L'Oreal Paris Elvive Go Purple gets four stars out of five stars from us. Great value without any damage to the hair, and decent blonde results.

It been a long day. You get home, grab a makeup wipe, get the bra off and shimmy into your favourite fleecy PJs.

And inevitably your hair is scraped back into a messy topknot.

That routine is what a lot of us associate with when we think of a messy bun but the topknot has actually become a catwalk staple and all-round consistent beauty trend.

So here’s how you can embrace the glorious topknot in all it’s wondrous forms.

1) The Classic Topknot

The trend: The classic messy bun should look like you pulled your hair up into a bun three days ago and left it. It conveys minimal effort and maximum style.

Get the look: Tip your head over and pull all your hair to the front of your head. Let strands fall loose along the way. If you have very sleek or straight hair, use a salt spray to add texture. Secure the hair into a pony tail.

Next, wrap the hair in a circular rotation until you have the desired topknot effect, secure and use a spritz of hair spray. Pull strand loose as desired. Yes, I woke up like this…

2) The Fearless Topknot

The trend: The fearless topknot leaves very little to the imagination. It is all about pulling the hair back so you can serve optimum face, darlings.

Get the look: Use a serum to smooth the hair and straighten. Pull the hair up into a very secure and severe ponytail positioned at the tip of your head.

Use hair wax to further smoothen and matte the hair around the face. Take the sleek ponytail and wrap tightly around into a bun shape. Secure with bobby pins and hair spray any stray strands into submission. Use a wet look spray for added shine and drama.

3) The Half Down Topknot

The trend: The latest celeb favourite is the half down topknot. Ideal for day to night and even better if you just have particularly greasy roots that day!

Get the look: Separate the hair into two sections and secure the top section into a high ponytail. Pull out any strands you want to leave around your face. Taking another bobbin wrap the pony around into a bun style and secure.

Wear the loose hair as you like!

4) The Boho Topknot

The trend: Ideal for those ladies with a fringe, this look means loads of loose strands around the face, a messy style and an even bigger and better bun.

Get the look: Use a texturising spray. Back comb the hair around your face before pulling back hair into a ponytail and securing. Pull down your fringe or loose strands to frame your face.

Back comb the ponytail before securing into a very loose bun. Add volume and texture by pulling the hair apart until you reach your desired style (if you have thin hair, use a thickening spray or a donut bun!)

5) The Fashionista's Topknot

The trend: The fashion topknot requires a bit more work and design. It definitely makes the topknot more accessible for a night time look.

Get the look: One example of this style is to do a plaited topknot. Pull hair back into desired ponytail at desired height. Plait the hair in the ponytail and secure at the end.

Wrap the hair around, gradually allowing it to get higher until you achieve a beehive effect. Secure with bobby pins.

There is just something about a red lip that oozes sex appeal and confidence. So much so that the most viewed YouTube lips video, How to get a Perfect Red Pout, has been watched over eight million times – it is the most commanding lip colour after all.

However, choosing the perfect shade is never easy – something that L’Oréal Paris is well aware of. So to take the fear and unknown out of choosing a red to suit you, they have created, with the help of Eva Longoria, Blake Lively, Julienne More and Liya Kebede, their Collection Exclusive Pure Reds range – a matte colour that slides on to lips for an impressive, easy-to-wear finish.

To celebrate Collection Exclusive Pure Reds, they are also launching the first ever virtual make-up tester, Makeup Genius, this October. This revolutionary app service will enable women to virtually test make-up products using their mobile phone or tablet as a simulated mirror. Women can try a whole new make-up look, or scan a premium and innovative before and after service.

Lynsey Alexander, L’Oréal Paris make-up artist, has the following advice for those struggling to chose the right shade: If you have black hair, go for pure reds that stand out and make teeth look whiter. Brunettes should opt for reds with a clean orange undertone complimenting the hair’s warmth. For those with red hair, choose a red with a pink, plumy or blue undertone that will complement the rusty golden tones in your hair and finally, just like those with black hair, blondes can choose a red that stands out and makes teeth look whiter.

With their new app and hundreds of shades, choosing your perfect red has never been easier.

“I definitely had an ugly duckling phase, kind of a grow-into-a-swan thing,” she says. “In the beginning, I didn’t know what turn I may go in. After my teenage years, I began owning my own beauty and working with what I have.”
