While some might see wolf-whistling as harmless act, police in Nottinghamshire made their stance on it very clear last July when they included it – along with cat-calling and unwanted verbal contact – under the 'hate crime' category.

And while the move may be welcomed by many women, Joanna Lumley of Absolutely Fabulous fame is far from impressed.

While speaking to The Mirror, the 70-year-old actress suggested that women these days are far too sensitive and would do well to take wolf-whistling in the manner it is 'apparently' intended.

"How can wolf whistling be offensive to women? It’s a compliment," she insisted. "They’re saying ‘Cor you look all right, darlin’. What’s wrong with that?"

Recalling her own youth, the popular actress explained that mysogonistic culture was part and parcel of everyday life.

"We were tougher in those days. You knew someone would whistle in the street and you weren’t insulted," she said. "We have become more sensitive flowers nowadays, people are very offended by everything.”

Using her experience as a model as a way to bolster her argument, she continued: "When I was modelling photographers were much ruder, they’d say ‘You look frightful, what’s the matter with you?’ ‘You look podgy, you look fat as a pig."

Well, that sounds like a right joy.

Joanna Lumley has gone where few women have gone before, getting to lock lips with the one and only Leo DiCaprio.

Leo is known for his MANY love affairs with the most beautiful models in the world, but Joanna has given the scoop on what smooching The Titanic star is REALLY like.

The Absolutely Fabulous star dished the goss on their past celebrity encounters on Thursday's episode of American talk show Watch What Happens Live

Joanna, 70, was asked to describe what it was like kissing Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street (we were DYING to know)

The comedienne responded in a very Patsy Stone-like way, saying it was 'Pepperminty. Adorable,'

Joanna then realised that was two words, so she added, "Fabulous (sweetie)".

Her famous co-star, Jennifer Saunders, interjected saying "soft lips," making the audience erupt with laughter.

Joanna claims that she "totally went for it" while filming The Wolf Of Wall Street, but she did also admit that both herself and Leo were "anxious" about the kiss.

The star has also admitted to feeling "a bit depressed" that she wasn't looking her typical glamorous self at the time of the kiss, wearing "some Oxfam clothes" in keeping with her role as Leo's wife's aunt in the movie.

Oxfam clothes or not, we salute you Joanna.

FINALLY!

After months of rumours and hints and basically just a rollercoaster of emotions for any fans, it has been confirmed that Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, is going to happen.

Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders are reuniting in order to film the highly anticipated film over the next several weeks. The release date is expected to be sometime in 2016.

Which really isn’t that far away- as we keep reminding ourselves.

Multiple cast members are set make their return: Julia Sawalha as Saffy, Jane Horrocks as Bubble, and June Whitfield as Mother. There is also some A-List cameos to come, naturally.

No big names have been revealed as of yet, but fans have been promised there will be some downright fabulous moments. We expect nothing less.

Ab Fab Searchlight

The premise of the film assures us that Edina and Patsy are still “oozing glitz and glamour” and living the high life they are so accustomed to- hence the duo appearing on a yacht in the first image to be released.

However, things don’t go entirely to plan: “Blamed for a major incident at an uber-fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi.”

So off they flee (penniless, mind you) to the French Riviera to escape the stress of it all.

The Mirror reported earlier this year that Jennifer said the script took her 20 years to write.

We’re hoping there will be more of this:

That’s all we ever wanted really.

Comedy heroines Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are set to reunite for something very exciting indeed… the first ever Absolutely Fabulous movie.

Jennifer, who both wrote and starred in the hit nineties BBC show, said she always intended to make an Ab Fab movie "before we die" and finally finished the script at the end of last year. In the end, it was a £10,000 (€13,798) bet with Dawn French that spurred her on to finish writing the film, which will begin production this autumn.

"Dawn bet me on live radio a year and a half ago, that if I didn’t write it that year, I’d have to pay her £10,000, which was a good kind of motivator and I just got it in on time. New Year's Eve I gave it to her," explained the actress during an appearance on ITV's Loose Women.

Speaking about her decision to write a film script, Jennifer said she had her doubts. "I think that’s why I didn’t do it for a while. I thought, wouldn’t it be awful if it was awful but now we’re all so old," she admitted. 'Joanna said to me "Do it before we die! We’re all on the brink.'"

After finishing in 1996, Ab Fab was revived again with new episodes in both 2001 and 2012, and Jennifer says the film will bring the whole cast together once more.

"It involves all the main characters and virtually everyone that’s ever been in the series, all those characters, and we’re in London and sometimes we might go to the South of France, I’m hoping," she said.

Earlier this year, Jennifer and Joanna appeared on the Comic Relief Bake Off, which had been filmed the previous summer.

In the end, Jennifer won out over Joanna, Dame Edna and Lulu with (what else?) an Ab Fab themed cake.

We can't wait to see these two back together again.

If this is true, all we can say is, “Oh.  My. God.”

Jennifer Saunders has got us all excited after she confirmed plans to write an Absolutely Fabulous movie.

When the English comedian was asked by Jonathan Ross about whether there was a film in the pipeline, the actress responded: “Yes, well I have to do it now because I’ve threatened to a lot.”

Saunders had a lot of pressure from fans and co-stars to write a script – Joanna Lumley was constantly announcing that she was going to do it.

However, the news may have more to do with the fact that Dawn French made a bet with her friend while they were hosting their radio show at Christmas.

Dawn bet the comedian £100,000 that she wouldn’t write it. So, rather than pay out, the three-times BAFTA winner says she will write it.

Poor Dawn – although we think it is money well spent.
