While we wait for the weather to catch up with the calendar (hailstones, are you for real Ireland?), we'll be taking refuge from the cold this weekend with a trip to the cinema.

Luckily there's some great films to choose from in this week's line-up of new releases, from drama to horror to some sweet childhood nostalgia.

Here's a look at what's new in this week…

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond
Disney's new epic fantasy adventure sees rebellious teenager Casey (Britt Robertson) catapulted into a futuristic world hidden from most other people. The only person who can tell her more about the mysterious "Tomorrowland" is Frank (George Clooney), a recluse who soon becomes her only ally.

Poltergeist
This new remake of Stephen Spielberg's 1982 film sees a suburban family fighting for the safety of their young daughter (and themselves) after her body is taken over by a terrifying unknown force. We're terrified just thinking about it…

Moomins On The Riviera
Nineties kids will no doubt remember the Moomins picture books and comic strips, first drawn by Finnish writer Tove Jansson in the 1950s. This "rarest and most eccentric family of creatures" are being revisited with a new film, full of gentle satire and humour that is sure to leave you smiling to the very end.

Heading to the cinema this weekend? There's a great mix of films on offer, from romantic period dramas to gritty action films.

Here's our pick of the best new releases…

A Little Chaos
Romance and beauty take a front seat in A Little Chaos, a period drama directed by Alan Rickman and starring Kate Winslet as the strong-willed female gardener tasked with building a garden at Versailles and challenging past traditions. Stanley Tucci, Matthias Schoenaerts and Alan Rickman himself also star.

Child 44
Tom Hardy stars as a security officer working in the Soviet Union during Stalin's reign, when he discovers evidence that a murderer of children is at large. HIs continued investigations result in him being demoted to a lower position, but he is determined to find out the truth.

Glassland
Taxi driver John (Jack Reynor) is just about making ends meet for himself and his mother (Toni Collette), an alcoholic whose addiction is slowly killing her. With the possibility of a recovery programme on the horizon, John must decide how far he is willing to go to give his mother a fresh start. Set in a bleak Dublin estate, this movie is a must see for fans of contemporary Irish cinema.
