We’ve all gotten bored of our current hairstyle and thought a change of fringe would make the world of difference and we’re right it does, but not always in the best way!

Before rushing out to update your look with a fringe upheaval, have a quick read through our guidelines to ensure your new bangs get people talking…for all the RIGHT reasons.

The easiest way to figure out the perfect fringe for you is to determine your face shape, so read on, girls!

Oval
Girls with oval-shaped faces are fortunate because they can rock pretty much any type of fringe. Some people have all the luck! The important thing to remember in this case is to match your fringe to your hairstyle, but a long thick fringe is considered most flattering.

Round
Girls who have naturally round-shaped faces, like Mila Kinus and Christina Ricci, are advised to stick to wispy or long side-swept fringes as they will elongate the face and give the illusion of a more oval-shaped face.

Square
A- listers like Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore are known for their strong angles, so you're in good company! Softening a square-shaped face is easily done with a long side-swept fringe. This type of fringe will perfectly balance out hard edges and the lack of curve in the face shape. Sorted!

Heart-shaped
Heart-shaped faces are best suited to fringes with long layers that frame the face or a blunt fringe across the eyebrows. Think Taylor Swift or Lea Michele for this one.

Anyone can wear a fringe, it's just a case of doing your homework before you make the plunge! However, if you're currently suffering through a major fringe mishap, remember the wise words our friend Jenny of Sabrina the Teenage Witch fame taught us: "Hair grows. Hair grows. Hair GROWS!"

Ah, the wisdom.
