friend zone

We've heard it time and time again since we were kids.

It's been in movies, TV shows, magazines, and now even made into memes.

Yep, it's The Friend Zone.

One writer saw a series of pictures shared on Twitter with the caption, "These dudes were the definition of being in the friend zone."

It shows pictures of friends in cartoons, such as Kim and Ron in Kim Possible and Sheen and Libby in Jimmy Neutron.

Well, David Slack, an animations writer has called out the term on Twitter, and he does it SO well:

So you’ve been hanging out with this guy for a while now, but you just can’t seem to shake that ‘buddy’ label.

Have no fear – we have the solution.

Banish the notion of actually telling him how you feel or even making your move during a messy night out in Doyles and instead invest €26.64 of your hard-earned money in this – the Friendzone Eliminator Spell Kit!

“This kit comes with a full instruction spell booklet that has a list of runic symbols and their meanings to make the spell personalized for you and your intended.”

Perfect!

Just remember that with all great power comes great responsibility: “Please do NOT use this as a way to force someone to love you or to break up existing relationships.”

The last thing you want is to have one of your close mates admit he has a thing for you when the feelings aren’t mutual.

Once he voices his feelings, there’s no real way to say no without hurting him and you can even risk wounding his pride to the point it will damage your friendship.

To avoid any awkwardness, try giving him a few subtle hints if you suspect if he’s hoping for more – this way you can make your point while avoiding ‘the conversation’:

  • Remind him he’s just like a brother to you
  • Say no to anything that even resembles a date
  • Lunchtime coffee is fine, but don’t overdo it
  • Encourage him to ask out a few other women
