A Dublin restaurant has been named as one of the best places for pizza in all of EUROPE by a prestigious food guide, and we simply must try it.

Manifesto Restaurant in Rathmines landed at number 35 on the list, which was the only Irish location listed on the pizzeria guide.

50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo in Westminster, London took home the first place prize, with Paris's Bijou and Copenhagen's Bæst coming in at number two and number three.

Manifesto is renowned for its innovative and exciting take on traditional Italian delicacies, locating its ingredients both in Ireland and Italy.

The colourful dishes offer a range of textures and flavours, but its pizzas are oven-charred, pillowy and covered in fresh ingredients. (Basically, they're perfect and are number one in our eyes…)

One of their more humorous takes on an Irish influence is their U2 Irish Flag pizza, loaded with gold organic cherry tomato, mozzarella, gorgonzola and friarielli or broccoli rabe.

The restaurant is owned and led by chef Lucio Paduano, hailing from Southern Italy. Paduano is a proud third-generation pizza chef, with his family making pizza since 1929.

Manifesto opened in 2009, and has racked up numerous awards over the years, including a Gold Medal for World's Best Pizza and Ireland's Best Pizza at the World Pizza Championships.

This ain't their first rodeo when it comes to awards, it seems. The restaurant is an elegant spot, with a smouldering wood fire in full view and exposed brick walls.

The Top 50 Guide is a hugely competitive list of the best pizzerias in Europe, and the winner is chosen based on surveys of over 150 esteemed inspectors and anonymous visits to sample the dough.

Gastro scientists, culinary masters and food journalists curate the awards, and know absolutely everything about pizza. Imagine being a pizza inspector? What a great job…

Manifesto's owner and chef Lucio Paduano said "To be listed among the top 50 pizzeria's in Europe is a huge honour for us.

"At Manifesto we work so hard, using premium ingredients in all our pizzas and being Italian, authenticity is at the heart of everything we do. This listing, recognises our hard work and effort and myself and the whole team are extremely grateful."

With the end of summer and the beginning of autumn comes a change in scenery, and a change in our food palettes to accommodate the soon-to-be festive season.

Despite the cold weather, one of the best things about the winter has to be the food. Gourmet meals, culinary masterclasses and a cosy setting are all on the menu of Taste of Dublin's new event.

The festive edition is set to run from November 28 to December 1 in the RDS, and is modelled on a similar winter food festival in London.

The winter version of Taste of Dublin will have fewer sessions (six over four days) but will feature huge indoor square footage and a comfortable experience.

While 32,000 flocked to the Iveagh Gardens in June, 18,000 attendees are expected over the festive four days. What does this mean? More room to manoeuvre around and get the best views of masterclasses.

Entertainment, food and more will be housed inside the RDS, Merrion Road, for the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.

From November 28 until December 1, 2019, get inspired in time for Christmas.

Fifteen of Ireland’s top restaurants and food experiences will be present in this winter wonderland, ready to serve up a selection of over 50 dishes for audience members.

A packed line up of cooking demos, drinks masterclasses and live entertainment are all in the works, with 30 top chefs warming up the kitchen.

Taste of Dublin's summer festival has taken place in the capital for the last 14 years, and is now building on the hype and success just in time for the cold weather. Food is the perfect warm-up, we say.

Inspired by Tesco Finest, we can't wait to sit in on the beautiful baking shows, food and drink sampling with Ireland's top brands and enjoy the live musical entertainment.

Indulge yourself in all things food and book your tickets for Taste of Dublin: Festive Edition online here before they sell out.

Dont worry: We won't be judgemental like Ginny Weasley if you eat your way through the RDS:

Summer coming to an end can be a troubling time for all of us. Why should we have to cope with Ireland's gloomy, cold seasons once more? It doesn't seem fair.

What can be the best stress reliever during difficult and chaotic moments in our lives? Food, obviously.

Deliveroo has revealed how the return to school and end of August can affect our food preferences, and we're not one bit shocked at the rise in alcohol orders during September.

september 21 GIF

Summer 2019 is leaving us behind *pause for sobbing* and it's time to ditch the bikinis for uniforms and work clothes. According to Deliveroo, healthy orders significantly increase in September…what?

The alcohol orders rise by 14 percent as we realise that exams and essay deadlines are back in our lives once more.

The end of summer has broken our hearts, but at least we got to enjoy Love Island and let our pasty skin tones get a tad bit more…red? There were glimmers of sunshine and plenty of rain showers, but it was a good time all the same.

As the nights become shorter, we're less likely to stay out dining late or visiting Dublin's best beer gardens, but Irish adults still need some vino to take the edge of the darker September evenings.

Back-to-school season means that rather than venturing out in dark, dreary weather, it's much easier to order a Prosecco Fiabesco from DRINK! or a Coors Light from Herlihy’s instead on Deliveroo.

With the end of summer comes the end of the 'beach bod' goals. The month is associated with changes and positive progress, with healthy food orders rising by 22 percent last August.

From salads and falafels and miso salmon to super-sub sandwiches, Sprout and Co and SuperSubs see a rise in Deliveroo orders during the month of September. Look at you go, gals.

September is also seen as a 'new beginning' time of the year, but we all dread the darker nights accelerating from here until December. It's depressing as f*ck.

The darkness weirdly makes us feel more tired at an earlier time, which means that Deliveroo orders start coming in earlier in the evenings too.

Last year, the average order time in June was 8:01pm, whereas by the time September rolled around, the average order time was at 7:34pm. Mad what the sky can do to us, isn't it?

So we’re making some new changes with the addition of salads and other healthy orders, but then we need a drink as a result. It's safe to say that September has us in a state of total flux.

WW, formerly known as WeightWatchers, launched a diet and nutrition app marketed at children and adolescents this week and have faced immense backlash since.

Kurbo by WW is a free programme that claims to help eight-year-olds to 17-year-olds "build healthy habits", and lose weight through personalised coaching and food tracking.

The app's "traffic light" diet approach categorises foods as red, yellow and green (red being the most process, sugar-filled, yellow being lean protein and pasta and green being fruit and veg).

Kurbo by WW was developed at Stanford University, and WW have defended their programme by stating the app is backed by safe scientific studies.

CEO of WW, Mindy Grossman, said; "To change the health trajectory of the world, we have a tremendous opportunity, but also a responsibility, to help kids, teens and families adopt healthy habits."

Many critics of the app insist that encouraging kids and teenagers to diet can perpetuate an unhealthy and dangerous mindset.

Fatphobic cultural messaging around dieting has led to a massive issue surrounding eating disorders and mental health among youth.

In an article published in Adolescent Health, Medicine and Therapeutics in 2015, researchers found that because adolescence is such an important time for body image development, 12-to-18-year-olds with a negative perception of their body or weight are more likely to develop eating disorders or dysfunctional exercise habits.

Of course, obesity can be linked to numerous health concerns but disordered eating and mental health conditions among adolescent is reportedly more likely to pose a dangerous risk than paediatric obesity.

35-to-37 percent of adolescent girls in the US alone report using unhealthy weight loss measures, according to the National Eating Disorder Association. These methods include fasting, smoking, taking laxatives and 'skinny teas', skipping meals and even vomiting.

One-in-three adolescents in the UK alone reported experiencing mental health issues, according to a troubling survey by the charity Action for Children.

More than 12 percent of adolescents in the US are affected by depression every year.

Many people on social media were furious about the Kurbo by WW app. Jameela Jamil, an activist and actress who runs the iWeigh campaign for body positivity, tweeted her disgust at the news.

“Are we kidding? Breeding obsession with weight and calories and food at the age of…8?" she wrote. "I was 11 when my obsession started, due to being put on a diet for being the heaviest girl in the class. I became afraid of food. It ruined my teens and twenties.”

Petitions have already been created against the app, with the hashtag #LoveNotDiets trending to urge parents to use love rather than diets to help their nutritional habits.

Childhood obesity is still an incredibly serious public health challenge of the 21st century, and the app attempts to reduce a child's sugar intake. There is nothing wrong with promoting healthy foods and exercising for physical and mental health benefits.

However, many parents feel that instilling a diet-centered mindset among young people who are already vulnerable could be a dangerous mistake. Targeting the mental health crisis could be a more productive way forward.

Many of us remember the iconic nightclub Dandelion from back in the day. Located directly beside St Stephen's Green shopping centre, it was at the forefront of Irish nightlife until it closed a few years ago.

Located where the old club used to be is a new, multifunctional space known as The Well, and we can't rave about it enough. The area is massive, and decked out with slick interiors and stunning art pieces on the walls.

Half of the room is decorated as a bar area with numerous seating options and hanging plants, but at night it turns into a chic bar with DJs banging out disco, funk and hip-hop tunes on the decks.

It's essentially a cafe-bar, restaurant, event space, workspace and coffee shop all rolled into one huge venue. The Well's aesthetic is described as a "premium version of an industrial-style bar". Ooh, yes please.

The Well's interior features furniture made from recycled and refurbished materials, which is in line with the venue's pledge to use sustainable materials and ethically produced decor. Snaps for being woke.

The second half of the space has been taken over by Dublin Pizza Company as a restaurant, and their oven-cooked grub is absolutely legendary.

Michael Ryan, founder of Dublin Pizza Company, has created DPC at The Well to serve an extended version of their award-winning menu, featuring wood-fired pizzas along with salads and starters from lunchtime until late.

It's an ideal space if you're looking to get some work done with high-quality barista coffee to keep you going, with cocktails as a reward for afterwards.

The Fajazzle, the Realness and the Spritz Please are just some of the cocktail options, and have earned them a shedload of fans already.

Beer lovers can rejoice over the choices, with some of the best of Irish and international craft beers available including the Franciscan Well range (Rebel Red, Chieftain IPA, Shandon Stout and Archway.)

The coffee shop is open daily from 7am until 7pm. The café-bar’s carefully curated wine list is also noteworthy, having been selected by James Brookes, formerly of Guilbaud’s and Glovers Alley.

Taking place in Iveagh Gardens from Thursday, June 13 until Sunday, June 16 (AKA Father's Day, bring him back some goodies); It's a three day immersion in Dublin's nourishing  and delicious tastes.

Organisers are describing this year's event as celebrating "the chefs that are taking culinary risks, fusing Irish and international cuisine and creating revolutionary Irish menus". Yes please.

Anna is the London-based author of Eat the Week and The Reluctant Vegetarian, and also does stylist work because she's just that cool.

Obsessed with all things tasty, Anna is delighted to be working with Ketel One Botanical this year at Taste of Dublin.

Ketel One is a family-made vodka brand which makes the spirit with no artificial flavours and distilled with botanicals and infused with natural fruit essences.

Anna currently writes for The Evening Standard in her spare time, when she's not running her own website. How does she find the time?

Thankfully, she's curated a stunning menu of canapés to complement Ketel One's three different Botanical Spritz flavours; Grapefruit & Rose, Cucumber & Mint and Peach & Orange Blossom.

We've chosen three of our favourite recipes for you to gorge over, but why not join the other 32,000 people expected to attend the Taste of Dublin over the four days?

1. Peach and marmalade galettes with whipped lemon cream

Works best withKetel One Botanical Peach & Orange Blossom Spritz

Cooking time: 12 – 15 minutes

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Feeds: 6-8

Ingredients: Pre-rolled shortcrust pastry cut into 5cm rounds, one whisked egg, 3 sprigs of oregano with leaves picked and roughly chopped, sprinkle of sea salt flakes, 3 tbsp of marmalade jam, one tin of peaches in syrup cut into thin segments.

Lemon cream: 200ml of double cream, whipped until thick, zest of one lemon, one heaped tbsp of icing sugar.

Instructions: Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. For the pastry, lightly flour a work surface or roll out pastry onto parchment paper. Scatter over chopped or whole oregano leaves and gently roll into the pastry. Turn the pastry over so oregano leaves are on outside and roll into rounds.

Spoon one-quarter of a teaspoon of marmalade onto middle of each round, add finely sliced peaches on top, and turn up the edges. Transfer onto baking tray, gently brush with eggwash and place in oven for 12-15 mins.

Allow to cool on rack. Pipe or spoon the lemon cream onto the tarts after whipping the cream and folding in the icing sugar and zest.

2. Bruschetta with grapefruit, charred red peppers, garlic and mint

Best served with: Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose Spritz

Preparation time: 15 – 20 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Resting time: 15 minutes

Feeds: 6 – 8

Ingredients: One French style loaf thinly sliced diagonally, two cloves of garlic to rub bread with, three red peppers, two grapefruits with skins removed and cut into segments, two cloves of garlic finely diced, generous sprinkle of sea salt flakes, one tsp of freshly ground black pepper, four sprigs of mint, generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

Instructions: Begin by prepping the peppers. Place them directly over a gas flame, charred until the skin turns black and blistered. Turn the peppers until they're entirely black, then transfer to a bowl and cover for 20 minutes before peeling off the charred skins. Next, finely slice the peppers by removing any pith. Be sure to retain their juices as this is packed with flavour and can be used by drizzle.

For the bruschetta, heat a griddle pan until almost smoking then in batches char your slices of bread on both sides until you can get those great, dark stripes. You can also grill or toast the bread if you don't have a griddle pan. Cut the garlic cloves in half and rub into the charred breads.

Prep all remaining ingredients. Combine with the red peppers then arrange the bruschettas on your platters, just before serving spoons the mixture generously onto the breads and finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil or the juice retained from red peppers.

3. Irish salmon toasts with lovage mayonnaise and mint and pea shoot topping

Best served with: Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint

Preparation time: 15 – 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 5 – 10 minutes

Feeds: 6- 8

Ingredients: Irish soda bread, 200-300g good quality smoked salmon, drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, zest of half a lemon, ground black pepper, 3-4 tbsp cress/pea shoots/radish tops to garnish

Lovage mayonnaise: 150g mayonnaise, 5-6 sprigs of lovage, several turns of black pepper, one-quarter tsp lemon zest, extra virgin olive oil

Instructions: Heat a griddle pan until almost smoking, then char your slices of bread on both sides until you get great, dark stripes.

For the lovage mayonnaise, combine the leaves, mayonnaise, seasoning and zest and blitz until combined. Cut salmon into even stripes.

To serve simply add a generous dollop of lovage mayonnaise to the charred bread, add on the smoked salmon and finish with drizzle of oil, a pinch of cress and lemon zest.

Veganism – it's taking hold of the world and it seems that everyone is becoming or has become vegan these days.

Ireland has definitely caught up with its European counterparts when it comes to giving meat the chop from our diets.

When ranked, the most popular countries for veganism in 2018 shows that Ireland came in at…number eight.

Looks like the days of Irish stew are long behind us.

Veganism means nothing animal based – so no meat nor fish nor dairy nor honey.

As well as food, it also means embracing a lifestyle where you don't wear leather or wool or visit the zoo.

For people, it all means different things for different people – for some, it's all about animal rights and others it's about having a healthier diet.
