Fifty Shades of Grey

There are few things more closely associated with one another than the Fifty Shades series and kinky sexcapades.

However, if you're looking forward to sitting in the dark among strangers to watch glorified porn for two hours, the third cinematic instalment will leave you disappointed.

While there were a number of steamy scenes in the film, one question was on my mind after seeing Fifty Shades Freed – where was all the riding?

As someone who has read the books, which include 10-page long passages highlighting the various aspects of Ana Steel and Christian Grey's sexual encounters in excruciating detail, frankly I was expecting to be titillated by Hollywood endorsed erotica.

However, the third instalment of the film trilogy was definitely in the romance category, rather than an adult drama.

While there were a number of sexy scenes, it seems that marriage was the nail in the coffin of Mr and Mrs Grey's exploration of extreme BDSM.

While the first sex scene did see Ana handcuffed by the wrists and ankles, the following sex scenes were devoid of the various BDSM elements one has come to anticipate from the franchise.

There was only one single, solitary and playful pat on the bottom from Christian to Ana as opposed to the fully fledged spanking sessions in previous films and literature, and while screen time was dedicated to a drawer full of butt plugs and a blindfolded Ana on a St Andrew's cross, equal if not more time was committed to the pair's missionary exploits.

So unexciting were the sexual elements of the film that in one scene which featured Dakota Johnson's character creating a trail of Ben & Jerry's ice cream down her husbands torso to create a dairy-laden pathway to mutual oral, I honesty felt offended by the flagrant wasting of ice cream.

Image result for fifty shades

There's an additional subplot to the film which sees Jamie Dornan's character develop from a classic controlling misogynist to essentially not being an a*shole.

In the opening dialogue, Ana and Christian can be seen soaking up the sun on a nude beach on their honeymoon.

Understandable, Ana wants to remove her bikini top to tan the tatas, but her now husband forbids it, and even attempts to shame her by pointing out that his bodyguard will see her. When she goes against his wishes, he makes them leave the beach.

Later in the film, we see his attitude change as he begins to 'allow her' to wear the clothes she chooses, which is apparent in his appreciation for a low cut sequinned dress she dons. However, when purchasing the guna, Christian's reaction to it is in the back of her mind, creating this undercurrent of foreboding over his controlling nature.

However, if you're looking for a romantic film with a thriller edge, Fifty Shades might be right up your alley.

It's ultimately a romance with a feel-good ending and a healthy amount of deviating plot lines to keep viewers intrigued.

It's recommended that you watch the previous films first, as a number of plot lines are continued in the third flick which aren't given the back story that would be required for someone just dipping into the franchise with the third film to understand.

In case you're unaware, Fifty Shades of Grey made its debut on Irish television last night, and as Christian and Anastasia got intimately acquainted, Irish viewers devoted an inordinate amount of time to their phones.

All too aware of our Holy Catholic Ireland reputation, the Irish public spent hours sending themselves up on Twitter.

From catching family members engrossed in the plot to insisting the S&M storyline was too tame, Twitter was easily as entertaining as the movie causing the influx of posts.

And here, ladies, is just a sample…

1. Shook altogether.

 2. We did it, lads.

3. A fair estimation.

 4. Well, now.

 5. Classic Mrs. Brown.

6. Tame as anything.

Piers Morgan has been angering quite a few bibliophiles on Twitter in recent weeks.

Piers has been in a battle of 180 characters with JK Rowling for quite a while, as the two have had some political disagreements.

In the midst of the war of words, Harry Potter fans have begun tweeting Piers Morgan the contents of the Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone novel in it's entirety, and the journalist has had it up to here with the Hogwarts-themed tweets.

Seeking some respite, Piers tweeted Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L James, asking for a quote from her from one of her popular erotic novels.

E.L James proceeded to perfectly troll the journalist, by tweeting back a line from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Clearly missing the joke, Piers responded to the perceived dig with: "Fortunately none of your characters would ever risk over-exposure…"

The quote is, of course, not even from Fifty Shades of Grey, but is in fact from a scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets between Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor Gilderoy Lockhart and Harry Potter.

Clearly E.L James has JK Rowling's back in this battle.

The Harry Potter author also made a pretty funny joke at Piers's expense on Valentine's Day, as she posted a gushing review about her contribution to children's literacy.

While JK Rowling feigned the anonymity of the post for the sake of satire, it was quickly revealed on Twitter that it was Piers Morgan himself who had written the piece a few years ago.

"I bet he's having a monumental trumpesque meltdown," replied one follower.

It might be time for Piers to take a little Twitter break now, no?

Whether you love or hate the franchise, there's no denying that Fifty Shades of Grey has had a serious impact on popular culture over the last five years.

But according to emergency services in Britain, no matter how much you may want to channel your inner Christian and Anastasia, not everyone is actually up to the task.

Since the books' release in recent years, the medical profession have, according to The Mirror, seen a spike in the number of sex-related injuries among members of the public.

Over the course of five years, 102 men and women have had to alert emergency services after getting stuck in handcuffs or chained to the bed, while 23 men have had to be cut free of penile rings.

Commenting on the prevalence of these incidents, Dave Brown of the London Fire Brigade urged men to consider the implications of their bedroom antics.

"Our advice is simple. If the ring doesn’t fit, don’t force it on. As well as being painful, you could end up wasting emergency service time if you have to call us out," he explained.

With the sequel to the box office smash currently delighting cinema audiences worldwide, emergency services don't anticipate a dip in incidents any time soon.

"This year so far is the biggest for Fifty Shade incidents since the books came out. It seems the Fifty Shades of Grey effect is still leading to some call embarrassing call outs,"added Mr Brown.

So, does no one stick with missionary anymore… ahem…

From Daniel Craig's 007, to Mad Men's Don Draper and Christian Grey of the Fifty Shades trilogy – sophisticated, dapper gentlemen have now firmly pushed to one side the scruffy, gum-chewing bad boys of yesteryear.

And while their suits, their swagger, and their many successes naturally appeal no end, their incredible abodes are something of a mega-attraction too.

Indeed, here at SHEmazing! we say there are few things sexier than a man who takes pride in his home – whether that's a box-room in his parents' place or a sprawling, detached property.

Thankfully, and choosing to ignore any lingering traffic cones or quirky beers mats from his college years, there are simple, affordable ways to revamp a living space too.

Yes, armed with the right inspiration (Fifty Shades Darker hits Irish cinemas on February 10, for example) even the dullest of spaces can be transformed into something manly and striking.

Goodbye tatty boys-club gaff; hello cosmopolitan man-cave dwelling!

Here are six simple ways to give refined home-decor a distinctly masculine twist…

1) Accessories are everything

Forming the perfect living space isn't exclusive to those with a millionaire bank balance. After all, when it comes to creating sleek, masculine interiors, the likes of leather photo frames, matching plates and cutlery, and luxurious faux-fur throws go a LONG way.

2) Get rid of any junk

Clutter is out! Small living environments in particular can't support a load of 'stuff'. Go through every possession and aim to chuck as much of it as possible. Old DVDs and CDs? Out! Keep your wardrobe simple and concise too; discard anything that's tatty, worn, or dated.

3) Keep the colour-scheme simple

Embrace earthy hues like browns, greys, or deep greens. Or alternatively opt for two or three complementing colours and work with those – not only on the walls and ceilings, but also via accessories, furniture, and paintings.

4) Storage boxes are a BIG help

Aim to keep day-to-day clutter out of sight. Bathrooms shouldn't be littered with products; bedrooms shouldn't be strewn with clothing, and sitting-rooms should be free of the likes of games consoles and gadgets. Invest in some good-quality storage boxes to help you clear away as much as possible.

5) Create a central feature

Christian Grey may have THAT Fazioli piano in his breathtaking penthouse – but even a bicycle or smaller musical instrument mounted on a wall can create a great central feature and talking point. If that feels too ambitious, use a piece of art or a quirky charity-shop find instead.

6) Stick to a cleaning schedule

After discarding, decorating, and rearranging – don't let all your hard work go to waste by then not implementing a strict cleaning schedule. Leave the actual scrubbing and washing for the weekends, but daily, aim to complete a 20-minute tidy and re-ordering.

Dakota Johnson is currently promoting the new instalment of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker.

While being interviewed on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, the actress was roped into a game of Mad Lib Theatre.

Mad Lib is a phrasing game where one player prompts the other for a list of words to fill in blanks in a story, and Dakota and Jimmy's acted-out story is beyond hilarious.

With prompts like "hairless sausages" and "pinching," the hilarity that ensued during their acting session was so gas, even acting pro Dakota had to break character several times to laugh.

The video is the funniest thing we've seen all day, and now we're even more excited to see the Fifty Shades Darker film.

Jamie Dornan and his wife Amelia Warner are expanding their family!

The Fifty Shades of Grey star and the English actress are expecting their second child together, People magazine confirms. The couple, who wed in 2013, are also parents to daughter Dulcie.

The 33-year-old Northern Irish actor and Amelia, also 33, were spotted on Friday in London, where the two walked arm-in-arm. Speculation that Amelia was expecting went into overdrive as some noted that she showed noticeable signs of a baby bump.

It should come as no surprise that the famously private couple are keen to keep Amelia’s pregnancy out of the spotlight. A representative for Jamie did not confirm the birth of their first child until nearly a month after Dulcie was born "at the end of November."

The two did not reveal any further information,  but the actress was believed to have given birth in Vancouver, where Jamie was on location filming the first in the Fifty Shades film series.

The Fall star had previously spoken to British Vogue about how much he was loving fatherhood. He described it as “the best thing that ever happened to him.”

“I love fatherhood. These last couple of years have been quite something. But we’re enjoying it.. It’s an extremely joyful situation. I know it’s my most important role in life.”

Meanwhile, Universal have recently announced two Fifty Shades sequels, confirming that the second film, Fifty Shades Darker, will be released in 2017. Fifty Shades Freed, the third instalment in the franchise, is expected to be released in 2018.

Fifty Shades is finally on its way back to us (yay!), but this time, filmmakers are doing something new when it comes to the production of the movie.

It has been reported to Variety that  Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will be filmed back-to-back, starting in 2016.

The film also has a brand new director, James Foley, who will take over from Sam Taylor-Johnson who left the franchise in March .

And despite anything you've heard, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan WILL be back. Hurrah!

Here's the teaser trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, although it's nothing more than Christian Grey putting on a mask (but we'll still watch it because, you know… it's Christian Grey):

Fifty Shades of Grey is coming back. Hurrah for all of the fans who just cannot get enough of the series.

However, this time around, the filmmakers are doing something new when it comes to the production of the film. Variety reports Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will be filmed back-to-back, starting in 2016.

This essentially means that fans have a definite release date and won't be left in the dark for much longer.

The film also has a brand new director, James Foley, taking over from Sam Taylor-Johnson who departed the franchise in March. So that really put an end to any hopes that her husband Aaron would be making an appearance.

Truly, a heart-breaking thought.

Despite any rumours to the contrary, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are back. Oh yes, the two actors will return and pick up where they left off. In case you forgot that involves a lot of shirtless toast eating and lots of questionable flirting while travelling in expensive aircrafts.

A very short teaser for Fifty Shades Darker has been released. However,  it's really not much more than Jamie putting on a masquerade mask, because why not?

Both of the films have been given release dates too. So you can start planning your entire world around the days they movies come out. Fifty Shades Darker is said to arrive in cinemas 10 February, 2017, followed by Fifty Shades Freed one year later.

But what about the newest book in the series you cry?

It would seem filmmakers have not yet deemed the world ready for a cinematic insight into Christian Grey’s mind. How unfortunate for everyone.

Oh come on, everyone wanted to see an attempt at this on the big screen, didn’t they?

Actor Jamie Dornan was supposed to star alongside Bradley Cooper in the new film Burnt

However, reports have emerged that claim film bosses are apparently too worried that Jamie's role in Fifty Shades of Grey would be "too distracting."

The Sun have made the report that while Jamie had already been involving in filming for the project, executives decided to let him go from the cast. The film is about a hotheaded chef who opens a restaurant in Paris and tries to get himself a prestigious third Michelin star.

Despite the actor undergoing specific training for the part, it would seem that his scenes have now been cut. A spokesperson for the film has confirmed that his scenes would not be used. However they did not give any specific reasons why this had happened. They said:

"Jamie's role was a small cameo that part of a back story and following the editing process is no longer part of the fim."

The tabloid are reporting that sources have pointed to his involvement with the Fifty Shades franchise as being the main reason for his dismissal:

"It's embarassing. being in Fifty Shades of Grey seems to be getting Jamie dropped from movies which he had already been cast in rather than landing him big new roles."

"But some people having him pop up on screen would be distracting. They're hoping to generate Oscar buzz with Burnt, and featuring the star of the most widely panned film of 2015 wasn't going to do the project any favours really."

Jamie's character was supposed to be a rival to that of Bradley's but it would seem that his story line will no longer feature.

Though the millions of women who found themselves drooling over his perfect face in Fifty Shades might disagree, Jamie Dornan has previously spoken of his love of having a beard.

Indeed, he's said he believes it makes him more distinguished and less cutsie-looking.

But the actor struck a balance while out and about in London yesterday, sporting neither a full beard nor a clean-shaven look.

Instead, Jamie boasted a handlebar moustache – which unsurprisingly he managed to pull off to perfection.

Although dressed down in a blue t-shirt and navy jeans, also on show were his toned biceps.

The 33-year-old Co. Down-native was accompanied by his English wife, Amelia Warner, also 33, and their 18-month-old daughter, Dulcie.

The facial hair is not by choice, however: he has grown the moustache for a role in the forthcoming Jadotville

Released next year, the feature film documents the story of Co. Kerry Commandant Pat Quinlan, who led a stand-off with French and Belgian troops in the Congo in the early 1960s.

Playing the suited and booted Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of EL James's Fifty Shades Of Grey, Mr Dornan sent hearts aflutter when the film hit cinemas in February.

It eventually went on to gross half a billion euro at the box office.

Thankfully, Jamie has already signed up for the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, which is due for release on February 10, 2017.

It is believed that he has been offered a €1.35m bonus to do a full frontal nude scene in the movie – an offer which he is said to be considering carefully.
