Now that Halloween is over we can finally focus on our favourite holiday.

Hints of Christmas have covered the country since the appearance of decorative lights on main streets.

And even though they haven’t been lit quite yet, we know that the holidays will be here before we know it.

Along with the magic of Christmas comes dewy-eyed romance as love seems to shine brightest in December days.

This season is an especially popular time for engagements, for what could be a better gift?

One of our favourite Irish jewellers Appleby’s, has brought out some stunning styles for holiday proposals.

The Dublin-based shop has gorgeous engagement rings ranging from vintage to modern styles with some of the lowest prices we’ve seen.

For holiday proposals, they have carefully chosen four gorgeous ring styles: Blue Sapphire, The Solitaire, Cushion Cut and Yellow Gold.

The Blue Sapphire ring follows the trend of Kate Middleton’s engagement ring – a sparkling sapphire encapsulated within an ornate floral diamond frame. Kate’s ring was originally Princess Diana’s (given to her by Prince Charles).

For a more classic look, The Solitaire features a round-cut diamond in a platinum band, encrusted with beautiful diamonds surrounding it. The timeless and elegant piece is designed for a simple but stunning design.

Cushion Cut coats yellow gold with snow-white diamonds in an iconic vintage style. Enhanced with a halo of complementary gems, it exudes quiet elegance. Its ornate frame makes it the perfect choice for a bride with an old soul.

Lastly, the Yellow Gold ring has been gaining rapid popularity over the years. A shimmering round cut diamond is at its centre, bordered by striking pear cut shoulders.

Appleby’s has been in business for over 60 years, creating original and bespoke engagement rings that are available from just €2,500.

Their number one concern is synonymous with that of the bride-to-be: to find the perfect fit.

So next time, you’re near Grafton Street pop in and have a look at their glamorous rings. Or simply shop online. They’re a great place to recommend to any friends planning to tie the knot soon as well.

When it comes to her wedding day, every bride has to find her own style.

Adhering to certain traditions may not sit well with one while following conventional customs may be the only route of choice for another, and these inclinations kick in long before the venue is booked and the dress is chosen.

In fact, many women are keen to break away from tradition when it comes to their engagement ring of choice, and this is where DesignYard steps in.

Whether your budget is in the thousands or you're looking for something a little more wallet-friendly, this stunning store most definitely has the ring for you.

White, yellow or rose gold, DesignYard, which has two branches in Dublin; South Frederick Street and The Crescent in Donnybrook, as well as one in The Boutique in Adare Manor in Adare, Co.Limerick, is the perfect choice for the bride who refuses to follow the crowd.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, right? Traditionally, most women go for a gold ring with a diamond setting as an engagement ring.

But things have changed – women want a ring that reflects their style and personality. Listen, if it's going to sparkle on your finger for life, it better suit you

One trend that looks like it is here to stay is rose gold; it was super popular in 2016 on Instagram.

Rose gold was the metal pick for the quirky bride who wanted to give her rock an edge and make the diamond pop, and it is going nowhere.

It's a softer and warmer alternative to gold and platinum, and it's a little bit different, which we really love.

It also has an antique-like vibe to it, which is incredibly sophisticated and elegant.

We decided to do a bit of a round up of our favourite rose-gold engagement rings, direct from social media (of course).

Fancy an engagement ring to rival Beyoncé or Kim Kardashian? Then you better look at making a move to Cork.

A new survey by Littlewoods Ireland has revealed which parts of Ireland are home to the big (and the small) spenders when it comes to popping the question.

According to the results, the Rebel County is the flashiest with the cash, with more rings costing over €3,500 sold down south than anywhere else. Dublin's not far behind, with couples there believing that eternal love should cost no more than €2,149. As for the other major cities, Galwegians spend an average of €1,449 and Limerick folks €1,199.

Of course, there's always going to be one county on the other end of the spectrum, with Westmeath natives spending an average of €729 on their sparklers. Cavan also lived up to their thrifty stereotype in second lowest place, spending an average of €899 on a ring.

As for the most popular style of ring, us Irish have simple taste – traditional white gold single stone solitaire rings are the most commonly sold type of engagement sparkler. Turns out we're less Kate Middleton and more Lauren Conrad when it comes to our choice of ring:

When it comes to saving and budgeting though, Irish women don't see flashy rings as a priority, placing house deposits and home furnishings far above engagement rings as a financial priority. Wise.

While we'd probably balk if presented with a ring costing hundreds of thousands of Euro, that doesn't mean we don't enjoy the odd "celebrity engagement rings" creep around on Google. Here are a few of our fave (outrageous) celebrity sparklers…

In life, there is obviously no rule book that says when you wear a ring on THAT finger it automatically means you're engaged.

However, if you're attached and are then seen with a big diamond gracing your ring finger… then people are going to presume you have either tied the knot or are about to be.

And in Hollywood recently, it seems that a host of our favourtie famous faces are having a MAJOR love affair with wearing some bling on that special finger.

Here's a few well known celebs donning on the trend… simply because they think it looks pretty.

Most of us would be happy with just ONE sparkler on THAT finger – but Victoria Beckham has been spotted wearing 13 different engagement rings during her 15 years of marriage.

When David proposed in 1998, her first engagement ring was a diamond marquise shape on a yellow gold band, and this ring is estimated to have cost around £65,000 (€82,167).

The singer turned fashion designer has also been spotted wearing a diamond studded band which experts have valued at £5,000 (€6,322).

There’s also a £100,000 (€126,411) yellow diamond set in yellow gold, a square cut diamond emerald surrounded by diamonds which is thought to be worth £500,000 (€632, 054) and a massive heart shaped diamond said to be over one million.

Jewellery maker Steve Bennett valued Victoria’s collection of engagement rings and said, “I’ve never known a woman to chop and change her engagement ring as she does. She clearly sees no reason not to treat it like any other fashion accessory.”

We’ll say!

No longer does the size of the rock matter when it comes to engagement rings – it’s actually how good your hand looks underneath the sparkler.

Some brides-to-be are so self conscious about their hands that they are reluctant to share their engagement ring online. In fact, many are even considering a ‘hand-lift’ – mind baffling!

Unfortunately, there is method in their madness as the hands are the first place to show noticeable signs of aging.

American dermatologist and plastic surgeon, Dr. Ariel Ostad of Total Skin Health Clinic says hand lifts are becoming increasingly popular for brides-to-be.

Involving Juvederm being pumped into the hand to plump them up, the procedure sounds awful, so doubt we’ll be getting in on the trend – not to mention nobody has actually put a ring on it.
