Without a doubt, Dr Charles Eugster has got to be the world’s fittest 94-year-old. In fact, he is the World’s Fittest Old Age Pensioner and believes good nutrition and exercise are the best ways to stay healthy.

Charles doesn’t take any medication and has no ailments like any other person in their nineties would have. However, he doesn’t believe it is just him who can be fit and healthy, saying: “For me, growing old is a joy; it’s wonderful, it’s one of the best parts of my life and that could be for everybody. Most of us can be healthy in old age.”

Proving just how fit he is, last year, the 34 times winner of the World Masters Rowing Championship completed the Strenflex European Championships where he did 61 chin-ups, 50 push-ups, 48 abdominal crunches and 57 dips – we can’t even do one chin-up, eek!

Working out in the gym three to four times a week, Charles believes you can change your ways, no matter your age: “Old age can be a chamber of horrors but it’s never too late to change your life and try something new.”

So, there’s hope for us yet!
