Former Disney and X-Factor US star Ricky Garcia is suing his former manager for alleged rape, according to reports by TMZ and DailyMail.com.

The actor and singer found fame after he was chosen by Simon Cowell to form a boyband on the talent show, but the 20-year-old has accused Joby Harte of sexual assault and rape from the age of 12 onwards.

In documents filed by attorney Ben Meiselas of Geragos and Geragos, Garcia claims that Harte and his company Hot Rock Media used the ‘well-worn paedophile playbook of grooming and seduction’ to consistently get him ‘black out drunk’ only for Ricky to wake up in the morning beside him naked.

"Defendant Harte, the ringleader, employed the well-worn paedophile playbook of grooming and seduction. He targeted an economically and emotionally vulnerable pre-teen and his parents. He then groomed and seduced the child’s mother to have her lay down her defences and give him unfettered access to her son, making her an unwitting accomplice to his depravity," the documents reportedly state.

Garcia starred in Disney’s Best Friends Whenever, also alleges that Harte  groomed him into a ‘sexual plaything that could be passed around his friends in the business’, including producer Nils Larsen. The claims have been categorically denied by Larsen and ex-APA agent Tyler Grasham in the ‘malicious prosecution’,

Garcia is suing Harte, Grasham, Larsen, Hot Rock Media, Cohen/Thomas Management and its partners Sheri Andersen Thomas and Paul Cohen, as well as APA. On Harte's Wikipedia page, it states that he helped to lanch ITV show Pop Idol and worked on Strictly Come Dancing.

Ricky wrote to his Instagram to tell fans that "today was one of the most difficult days of my life";

"Sadly I know my experience is just one of many and I hope my actions today will help others who experienced abuse to know that they are not alone and that there are people in this world fighting for them.

"So please if anyone is out there right now going through something even remotely similar to what I went through, please, we all need to speak out about this – yes of course I want justice for the POS that manipulated me, but more importantly this is about saving anyone else who feels like they don’t have a voice," the actor continued.

"YOU are not alone. This can happen to anyone you know. It’s just a matter of talking about this to people and letting your close ones know that it’s not okay."

A post shared by  (@realrickygarcia) on

He concluded the post; "So if anyone knows anyone else that’s going through this s**t as well. It’s so important to speak up for them."

Ricky auditioned for The X Factor US season three when he was just 14-years-old, before being eliminated during the boot camp round.

Simon Cowell asked him to return along with Emery Kelly and Jon Klaasen to form a trio called Forever in Your Mind. They were cut before the final 16 but were later signed to Hollywood Records.

Tyler Grasham was fired from APA in October 2017 amid sexual harassment and assault allegations from Blaise Godbe Lipman, Lucas Ozarowski and Jordan Gavaris.

In case you've been living under an early 2000s-sized rock, you're dying of excitement after hearing news of the Lizzie McGuire reboot. Yes, reboot. Because we're THAT old now.

Hilary Duff confirmed recently that she will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire in a Disney+ revival of the iconic show, which aired from 2001 until 2004. Three years, endless memories.

The now-31-year-old announced the news at the Disney D23 Expo, appearing on stage to reveal that our favourite 13-year-old will return as a 30-year-old interior designer apprentice in NYC.

Many of us also recall the Lizzie McGuire movie's ending, which featured a KISS between Lizzie and her longtime bestie Gordo. We predicted their eventual marriage and family, but we spoke too soon…

Gordo (played by Adam Lamberg) and the protagonist were deemed childhood sweethearts, but in the new show, 30-year-old Lizzie will be engaged to someone who ISN'T Gordo. That one hurt.

Remember when Gordo had to watch Lizzie ride off on a moped with Paolo in The Lizzie McGuire Movie and it broke our hearts? This is ten times worse than that. TEN TIMES.

Speaking to Vulture, Hilary revealed that their platonic friendship is “what was so good” about the show.

“You know what, I don’t know if I was as devastated by that. I feel like them not being together is what was so good.

“It’s that one person that you’re like, 'Was he the one? Is it ever going to be?' You’re always kind of wondering. We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it’ll continue to hurt."

The upcoming series has yet to confirm if any cast members will return. He's currently working for New York's Irish Arts Center as a Development Associate, as far as we know.

The sequel is expected to return in 2020 on Disney's new streaming service, Disney+. Irish prices are yet to be confirmed, but it's roughly six euro per month to steam from the channel.

If our hearts felt cracked and fragile before, they're smashed to smithereens now.

Just weeks on from initial reports, the Spider-Man situation remains woefully the same after Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vincinquerra confirmed that “for the moment the door is closed” on the MCU return.

Marvel Studios and Sony's financial talks have broken down, and now Tom Holland's Peter Parker will no longer be part of the MCU, with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige now absent from Spidey's next movie.

Many fans were hoping that the impasse could be overcome, but it seems that Sony is doubling down on distancing themselves from Disney after the entertainment giant asked for 30 percent of the earnings from the next few Spidey films.

To put this in perspective, they were only earning five percent before…so it's quite the leap on Disney's part to be fair.

Speaking at Variety’s Entertainment and Technology summit, Sony Pictures CEO dispelled fan's queries on the superhero;  “We had a great run with Kevin Feige on Spider-Man movies,” he said.

“We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out… the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work.”

He continued: “Spider-Man was fine before the event movies, did better with the event movies, and now that we have our own universe, he will play off the other characters as well. I think we’re pretty capable of doing what we have to do here.”

Sony seem confident that following the box office success of Venom and the widespread critical and public acclaim for the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, it can spin its own compelling web of spider tales.

Director Jon Favreau, the MCU the filmmaker behind Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and actor of Happy Hogan in Homecoming and Far From Home – still hopes that an agreement can be made.

“I’ve been talking to everybody about it… I’m cautiously optimistic,” he said at Variety’s summit.

“I think it’s a long way away and I think the collaboration has been really strong up to this point so I’m hopeful that there’s a way for us all to play together going forward.”

PLEASE solve this tangled web of a problem, Jon. We can't handle the idea of the adorable Tom Holland not featuring in the MCU, he stole scenes in the Avengers as Iron Man's protégé.

Sony Pictures, who own the rights to comic book character Spider-Man, have made a statement about the split with Disney which will see the webslinger no longer involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The company said they were "disappointed" last night by Disney's demand for a greater stake in the Spider-Man films and its proposal to reduce the involvement of Marvel president Kevin Feige in the franchise.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterised recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” said the statement.

“We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own," they added.

“Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Negotiations had been underway for numerous months between Sony and Disney over Spider-Man's future, after Disney's purchase of Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion heightened box-office dominance.

Disney had been demanding that future movies be financed evenly between the two studios, with Feige as the consultant producer.

Feige has been aligned with the Avengers series since Iron Man was released in 2008, and has been mostly credited with satisfying the franchise’s hardcore fans alongside Disney’s desire for awards and critical recognition.

Avengers: Endgame overtook Avatar last month as the highest grossing film of all time, and Black Panther became the first superhero film to win a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars last year.

Spider-Man: Far From Home, deposed Skyfall as Sony’s biggest film ever at the global box office only this week, with two more films starring Tom Holland supposedly in the works.

Major character plot holes will no doubt be the result of Sony's split with Disney, after Far From Home set up the next major Avengers storyline. Tom Holland fans are in mourning over the news, with the actor playing arguably the most popular Spidey to date.

Disney+ hasn't revealed any further details, or a release date for any 20th Century Fox classics they're dabbling with.

Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McAllister in the original film, had something to say about the matter and we had to laugh.

"This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like," he wrote, alongside a photo of him eating pasta on his couch, on his laptop like every one of us on Sunday nights.

He later added, "Hey Disney, call me!" Twitter were up in ARMS about the terrible news, with social media users asking; "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" It's perfection as it is.

Hannah Montana played a massive role in our lives during those awkward, pre-teen years. The show ran for five pop-filled years and we still remember every single word to Best of Both Worlds. The show brought us so much joy, many laughs, taught us about friendship, first love and fashion.

We all certainly went through a phase of wanting to dye our hair blonde, just like Hannah’s. Actress Miley Cyrus quickly became an idol and icon as the show grew in popularity year after year.

She will undoubtedly always be associated with her Disney character, but in recent years, the musician has worked incredibly hard to shed that cookie-cutter, wholesome image she had to portray during the years she spent as Disney’s golden girl.

Miley has released hit after hit since her Hannah Montana days. She has shown the world that there’s more to her than that bubbly, singer who pranced around the stage singing her ‘Old Blue Jeans’.

Disney-owned cable network Freeform has bit back against the "poor, unfortunate souls" criticising the casting of the live-action The Little Mermaid remake.

Halle Bailey has scored the role of Ariel in the new film, and a torrent of racist backlash has ensued as a result.

Groups online have claimed the original has now been "ruined" by a black actress earning the role, and that the Danish author of the fairytale would have wanted her to be a Caucasian actress.

The hashtag #NotMyAriel even trended after the casting announcement, with racism clearly alive and well. It's rare that an actress-of-colour gets a protagonist role, especially in a Disney film, so it's a huge deal.

In an open letter referencing Ursula the sea witch, the network reminded the ridiculous critics of the new Ariel that the tale is a "work of fiction" and that the casting of the "highly talented, gorgeous" Bailey is "inspired".

The letter reads: "Ariel … is a mermaid. She lives in an underwater kingdom in international waters and can legit swim wherever she wants…But for the sake of argument, let's say that Ariel, too, is Danish."

"Danish mermaids can be black because Danish *people* can be black."

It added: "If you still cannot get past the idea that choosing the incredible, sensational, highly talented, gorgeous Halle Bailey is anything other than INSPIRED casting that it is because she 'doesn't look like the cartoon one', oh boy, do I have some news for you… about you."

"Ariel can sneak up to the surface at any time with her pals Scuttle and the *ahem* Jamaican crab Sebastian and keep that bronze base tight. Black Danish people, and thus mer-folk, can also *genetically* have red hair," Freeform continued. SLAY.

Hilarious rapper and actress Awkwafina, who is set to play Scuttle in the film, responded to criticism by saying:

"I think that she's going to play an amazing mermaid. She's an incredible singer, incredible actress and I'm really excited to have her as a Disney princess."

The original Little Mermaid herself, Jodi Benson, has also had her say about the casting. “The most important thing is to tell the story," she started, via Comicbook.com.

"And we have, as a family, we have raised our children, and for ourselves, that we don’t see anything that’s different on the outside. I think that the spirit of a character is what really matters," she continued.

“We need to be storytellers," she added. "And no matter what we look like on the outside, no matter our race, our nation, the colour of our skin, our dialect, whether I’m tall or thin, whether I’m overweight or underweight, or my hair is whatever colour, we really need to tell the story."

"I know for Disney that they have the heart of storytelling, that’s really what they’re trying to do. They want to communicate with all of us in the audience so that we can fall in love with the film again.”

Bailey is half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle with her sister, Chloe. Halle has yet to speak out about the backlash, which is probably wise. Don't waste energy on bigots, girl.

The trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of the 1998 classic Mulan has been released during the Women's World Cup final, showing a sweeping adventure movie set in China's Han dynasty.

Chinese actress Liu Yifei beat thousands of contenders to score the title role of the film, which is directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider) and is scheduled for a March 27, 2020 release.

Yifei plays Hua Mulan, daughter of strict war veteran Hua Zhou (Tzi Ma). When her father is conscripted to join the military against the Hun invasion, Mulan disguises herself as a man to take his place.

Starring Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, Gong Li as new character Xianniang and Jet Li as the Imperial Emperor, the trailer teases massive battle sequences but no Mushu.

Her animated dragon companion does not appear to be present in the movie, breaking fans hearts all over the world. The original soundtrack will also not be featured, another blow to fan-favourite aspects of Mulan.

Cri-Kee, her lucky cricket, is set to be voiced by Jun Yu. Her trusted friends don't appear in the trailer for the movie, which is based on the 1998 effort directed by Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” Marshall said in a statement.

The incredible cast already includes Jacob Tremblay and the hilarious Awkwafina, of Crazy Rich Asians and Oceans 8 fame. Melissa McCarthy is also rumoured to be playing the sea-witch Ursula.

The Little Mermaid will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated hit film, as well as adding new song from original composer Alan Menken and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Miranda is producing the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca, so it's set to be absolutely amazing. David Magee has written the script, with Jane Goldman having written a previous draft.

Menken wrote the iconic original music from the film, including songs like Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl and Part of Your World. Our childhoods are essentially being reignited and we couldn't be happier.

The movie followed mermaid Ariel's journey after falling in love with Prince Eric, a human. She trades in her voice for a pair of legs, and it gets fairly chaotic after that…
