There’s a stereotype that it’s avocado toast that millennials have a relentless obsession with, but Tesco Ireland have had to order their rare giant avocados due to popular demand.

It can’t be entirely 23-year-olds to 35-year-olds that have created such a trend, so we’re all guilty of the avocado love. Confess, why don’t you?

A very special delivery of the giant food, known as ‘Avozilla’s for their huge size, will land in 70 Tesco stores around the country on Saturday, September 14.

The Avozillas are priced at just €4 and exclusive to Tesco in Ireland. The game-changing giant avocados are perfect for creating a massive, family-sized portion of guacamole.

Think of the avocado toast brunches you could host with a stash like this, the possibilities are endless. Avozillas are naturally produced and not genetically modified.

Just four trees produce the Avozilla supply in the lush forest outside of Modjadjiskloof, Limpopo, South Africa. It’s basically a cross between two types of avocado; West Indian and Guatemalan varieties.

As these trees are not available for commercial sale, there is very limited supply of the fruit, so avocado fans are encouraged to pop into one of the participating Tesco stores while stocks last, to avoid disappointment.

John Brennan, Fresh Category Director, Tesco Ireland, commented:

“They are extremely rare and come from just four trees grown by one of the world’s biggest suppliers of avocados in South Africa. Deliveries will be going into 70 of our stores across the country on Saturday morning and will be available this weekend while stocks last.”

What are you waiting for? Set your alarms for tomorrow, and lift some weights so you can carry all those Avozillas home.

The McDelivery service, in partnership with UberEATS, is available to anyone within one and a half miles of participating Irish McDonald’s restaurants. The service will roll out across Dublin, Galway and Cork in phase one, kicking off on November 8, 2018.

“We are delighted to be introducing the McDelivery service to Ireland, after months of planning and lots of questions from McDonald’s lovers – we can finally reveal that the time has come, offering yet another level of convenience to our loyal customers.

As Ireland basks in the annual (and long overdue) Leaving Cert weather, many of us Dublin's are choosing to spend the sun-drench evenings the only way we know how – cans by the canal, naturally.

And now, thanks to Deliveroo's extreme new deliver method, it looks like we won't even have to make the trek back into town in order to enjoy the city's tastiest food.

The food deliver service has teamed up with the Canoe Centre to launch it's first ever kayak delivery, meaning you can now get your favourite dishes dropped directly to the banks of the Grand Canal.

The maiden voyage meal of choice were. you guessed it… burritos from Boojum.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that our customers are enjoying great food and getting out in the good weather, while it lasts!

“We know that taking in as many sunshine hours as possible is very important. Our extreme kayak delivery along the Canal ensures that those stuck in the office all day need waste no time in catching up on rays after work.” he added.

We reckon this'll come in handy over the summer months!

Some glorious news, online shoppers.

It has been reported that 500 postmen and women will start delivering parcels to Irish homes and businesses on Saturdays.

An Post are breaking tradition with the hopes they can capture a bigger share of the online shopping market.

It is expected that about 20,000 parcels will be delivered every Saturday, which is pretty darn impressive – oh, and it's starting tomorrow.

According to The Irish Times, postal staff and their unions have agreed to these new and exciting working hours, that will involve them delivering parcels on Saturdays and weekday evenings.

This new arrangement is part of an aggressive drive by An Post to double its share of this market to "50 percent by 2021 and is backed up by an €8 million investment that includes an upgrade of its IT systems and a major advertising campaign".

An Post made an operating loss of €13.7 million last year and its chief executive, David McRedmond, has warned that its losses would rise if no action were taken to reshape the business.

If you think about it, no one knows you better than your Deliveroo man.

He knows about that celebratory Chinese when you finished your exams and he knows that your 'treat yourself Thursday' often spills over into the rest of the weekend.

So it's not surprising that Deliveroo knows exactly what kind of takeaway meals make the top five when it comes to our capital's preferences.

A post shared by Deliveroo (@deliveroo) on

When 8pm on a Saturday night (the most popular time to order) rolls around, there are a few takeaways Dubliners love most.

Taking the top spot is the family meal from Eddie Rockets, comprising of two burger meals and two kids meals, so a true family favourite.

At number two there is the humble but mighty Boojum burrito, the ideal hangover food.

At number three, Aussie BBQ takes the crown for their pulled pork and bacon fries. *drools*

The number four spot is held by another family favourite from Beshoff Bros, the haddock fish and chips family meal for four.

And last but not least, the capital's notions come to life with salmon sashimi from Aoki Sushi.

The delivery service also looked into the eating habits of Co Cork, and they are distinctly different to those in the capital.

Cork residents prefer something a little spicy when they order in, with Yuan Ming Yuan's Hung Sung Pa Aromatic Duck taking the top spot.

Ramen's Pad Thai came in second, with Tung Sing Crispy Chilli Chicken a close third.

Burritos were again featured, this time it was Burritos & Blues Deliveroo Special in fourth place.

And proving that you can't beat a takeaway classic, in fifth place is Uncle Pete’s Burger Meal for two. Romantic AF.

Now we're craving a takeaway dinner…

We have to admit that even though it seems hella lazy, we've all had nights when we just don't want to answer the door to the delivery man.

Sometimes, we don't even want to ring up a restaurant to give our order, so this will come in handy for… well, for hangover days, hectic days, period days, or any other day that you just feel a little lazy.

Domino's has announced its 'door-livery' innovation, which a Heatwave Letterbox being installed into your door, that will keep your order fresh for up to 12 hours.

Domino's will deliver your pizza even if you're not there, so it will still be piping hot for when you get home.

And you can even choose the style of your new Heatwave Letterbox, which include finishes such as ice chrome, slick nickel and classy brassy.

Would you be interested in this? We totally would. Too bad it's an April Fool's joke.

Are you ever sitting at home in your PJs at night and just think, 'God, I'd love some curly fries right now'?

Yep, us too. And while we have so many restaurants that deliver to choose from, sometimes nothing beats good 'oul Maccy D's.

Well, it looks like the fast food chain could soon be coming to a front door near you!

According to The Telegraph, McDonald's wants to roll out delivery services in a number of leading markets, and our fingers are crossed that one of those markets is Ireland.

The company said in a statement: "One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback.

"Coupled with the explosive growth in third-party delivery companies, the landscape has created an exceptional opportunity for growth."

It could be time to take our Big Mac addition to the next level, ladies!

We've said it for years, and now it may finally be happening. McDonald's DELIVERY.

According to USA Today, McDonalds have announced plans to start testing out a delivery service.

Obviously, like everything else with Maccy D's, the delivery service will first be rolled out in the US, and if successful, it will continue onto the rest of the world (so, let's hope the US are on board with it).

But can you imagine how handy that would be?! The late night munchies never sounded so good.

Too hungover to walk to the shop for a hot chicken roll?  Not to worry, that trouble could soon be a thing of the past as drones are about to start dropping food on college students.

That’s right, those big boy toys you keep hearing so much about but may not really see the point of have finally found their noble purpose and it's a good 'un.

According to the New York Post, Alphabet – the parent company of Google – has decided to give drone delivery a go for the next few weeks after being granted permission to do so by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Unfortunately for now only those on the far side of the pond will be able to avail of this service as the initiative will be tested by delivering Chipotle Mexican Grill to students at Virginia Tech.

But if the experiment – which is designed to test if the packaging can effectively protect the goods mid-flight – is successful, maybe drone delivery will become the norm.
