Kim Kardashian has opened up about her 2019 Met Gala look, and the tortuous pain it brought her.

The Thierry Mugler dress involved waist-shrinking, tight undergarments which left "indentations" on her back and stomach, with the star saying of the corset; "I have never felt pain like that in my life."

The high fashion soirée often involves uncomfortable looking couture outfits donned by celebrities aching to reach the Best Dressed lists, but the reality star seemed to go too far with her own look.

In a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine, the beauty and fashion mogul opened up about the impossibly painful Mr Pearl undergarment, and shut down rumours that she'd had ribs removed to fit into the frock.

Regarding those ridiculous whispers online, she said to the publication; "I don’t even know if that’s possible." Wearing the outfit sounds like tough going, though.

"I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off- the indentations on my back and my stomach," she added, referencing the horrible effect the garment had on her body.

How long the indentations lasted wasn't said by Kardashian, but they don't sound like a party. Corsetier Mr Pearl created the body-hugging piece, which was met with criticism for promoting "unrealistic beauty standards" and "an unnatural figure".

Kim's personal trainer, Melissa Alcantara, defended her after the gala, and emphasised the work which the reality star puts into her body.

"Kim trains her ass off 6 days a f*cking week, she wakes up early AF and is dedicated," she wrote in on her Instagram Story.

The entrepreneur has also just released her first shapewear range, controversially named Kimono despite having nothing to do with Japanese garments.

The KKW Beauty founder launched a 'solutionwear' line but had to rename the venture after backlash against the culturally insensitive name.

The new moniker hasn't been revealed yet, but she has announced her Sooo Fire make-up range featuring a 10-pan metallic eyeshadow palette, three eyeliners and three lip glosses with a new formula.

Emma Watson has refused to wear a corset for her latest movie, Beauty and the Beast.

The actress is taking the princess to a whole new level, and believes she's a more 'active princess'. Oh, and did we mention she's made her into an inventor as well?

The film's costume designer, Jacqueline Durran said: "In Emma’s reinterpretation, Belle is an active princess. She did not want a dress that was corseted or that would impede her in any way.

“The dress was designed with easy, active moment in mind – Watson isn’t wearing a corset underneath.”

In the original Disney flick, Belle is the ultimate bookworm, while her father is an inventor, but Emma turned the tables on that one too, making Belle into a creator herself.

She recently told Entertainment Weekly: "I was like, ‘Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn’t fit in, other than she liked books. Also what is she doing with her time?’

“So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, we made Belle an inventor.”

We don't think anyone else could play a princess so perfectly.

In 2015, when we have come so far with making feminism a far more mainstream train of thought, it's a surely bit depressing to see the Kardashians promoting what is no more than a modern-day corset.

Waist trainers, sports corsets… the mind, it boggles. They seem to have exploded online of late, and the trend stems, of course, from yet another Kardashian-induced craze.

Many of the images of people wearing this kind of gear, whilst widely shared on social media, are pretty unrealistic. Dramatic before-and-after pictures can easily entice those desperate for an easy solution. It’s kind of amazing what people are willing to part with their cash for! On one site, I read that the waist trainer "creates compression in your core stimulating thermal activity which will accelerate your workout!" Right.

As far as I can make out, whilst the flattering nature of these mini-corsets might make for an excellent selfie, they’re not exactly conducive to breathing, eating, and, well, living. Of course, shapewear is always going to be a quick fix – Pilates and yoga might make for a more permanent change in terms of toning and posture.

I don’t think you have to be a doctor to realise that long-term, even if a waist trainer does manage to alter your shape, compressing your core for hours at a time mightn’t be the best idea. By constricting the midsection of the body, you could potentially harm the major internal organs in that region. And what will it do to your skin?!

My over-arching feeling on this is that the whole thing has to be a bit of a fad. Just like the breadmaker, the foot spa and the blender, the waist trainer is most likely going to be resigned to the back of the closet after a while.

If you’ll excuse the pun, I think that this fad raises a lot of, ahem, core issues about what us females are willing to do to ourselves in the pursuit of perfection. Is it possible to waist train and be a feminist? I'm sure it is, but the trend as a whole is a bit alien to me. It's also potentially quite dangerous – just as with the likes of caffeine pills and crash diets, it seems this is yet another case of us ladies being far, far too hard on ourselves.

Kim Kardashian is fond of a bit of Photoshop every once in a while, but her latest Instagram snap is apparently Photoshop free, according to the star.

She posted the photo to her account, in which she is wearing a purple and black corset, with the caption: “#hourglass #waisttraining #nophotoshopnecessary #whatawaist.com”.

It was no secret that the star was trying to shed a few pounds after her rant on Twitter last week, and apparently she's lost seven pounds in two weeks after cutting back on carbs. Now she's giving this ‘waist training’ trend a go, which involves the gradual reduction of your waist by wearing a latex waist cincher or corset. Sounds kind of weird to us… next she'll be getting her ribs removed!

While she does look great, we hope she doesn’t get carried away! According to one of Kim’s friends “She feels like she's reached her goal weight now”, so that’s good. But it's no excuse for stepping out in this jumpsuit on Wednesday night:

No excuse at all, Kimmy.
