Lorde's second album has just dropped, but unfortunately for the singer, the press and public are currently more interested in remarks she made about her friendship with Taylor Swift.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the New Zealand-native attempted to explain the dynamic of her relationship with the Out of the Woods singer, but she didn't exactly choose her words carefully.

Referring to the fact that Taylor's high-profile status makes standard BFF activities a little difficult, Lorde made an ill-advised comparison to autoimmune conditions.

"It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies," she surmised in a particularly odd analogy.

"There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do," she continued. "There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease."

And Twitter is unsurprisingly far from impressed with the comparison.

Taking to social media to berate the singer for her 'insensitive' comments, members of the public wasted no time highlighting the incongruity of the singer's questionable comparison.

Following the backlash, Lorde took to Twitter to both apologise and clarify her remarks with Twitter users who demanded Lorde acknowledge the insensitivity of her comments.

"Didn't mention Taylor, but regardless, I f*cked up and that was really insensitive. I'm sorry," she wrote in response to one person's outrage.

According to emerging reports, Simon Cowell is in the process of organising a charity record to pay tribute to those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy this week.

The music mogul took to Twitter in the aftermath of Wednesday's blaze and expressed his sympathies over the incident which has, thus far, claimed the lives of 17 people.

"I am watching the footage of the Grenfell Tower fire in London. Heartbreaking," he wrote in a tweet last night.

In a move which has garnered considerable support, Simon went on to write: "We hope to confirm a record tomorrow which will raise some money for the many people affected by this tragedy. Making calls tonight."

While it is not yet clear which artists will feature on the charity record, Simon is adamant that anyone in a position to help should do so.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain hosts, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, he said; "For all of us living in the vicinity, we have the ability to do something. I just thought what do you do? First of all you can raise some money and that’s important."

“Secondly, what I hope will happen is that it will send a message to those involved that there’s an awful lot of people who care very much about what you’re going through.”

Acknowledging his global status, he added: “For me in my position not to do something would be appalling. It sent chills through me. I do genuinely believe this will make a difference.”

Stars including Adele, Rita Ora and Lily Allen have made trips to the scene of Wednesday's blaze in an effort to comfort members of the community.

Last month, Lena Dunham was forced to call Us Weekly out on their coverage of her weight loss.

The magazine ran a feature on the star and used her recent weight loss as a platform to provide so-called diet tips.

And Lena, unsurprisingly, wasted no time highlighting the fact that numerous medical conditions were actually responsible for her weight loss, and therefore not something any woman should aspire towards.

In a similar vein this week, the Girls creator took to Instagram to share a nude photo of herself alongside a caption which illustrates the progress the actress has made in relation to her own self-worth and body image.

"Just wanted to share that one of the reasons @eatingboys has inspired me so much is because of the way she mixes her humor and sexuality," Lena began.

"I spent so many years loving my body but thinking it wasn't lovable by others- its sole purpose was to be fodder for jokes," she wrote.

"I performed the insult so no one else could," she added. "I don't regret any of it- that's my art and that was my truth."

However, it sounds like the star's perspective has changed somewhat, and her medical history has gone a long way towards contributing to it.

"Now, at age 31, having been through hell and back with my health and other people's perceptions of my physicality, I feel deeply comfortable with the idea that this pear-shaped pot of honey is equally good for making people laugh and laying out like a Suicide Girl circa 2004. Love it all."

Lena's upload struck a chord with her followers and has amassed almost 40,000 likes so far.

If you thought Liam Gallagher's apparent disdain for his brother, Noel, might have diluted somewhat upon the emergence of reports that Noel had donated royalties to victims of Manchester's recent terror attack, you'd be mistaken.

While appearing on Chris Evans’ show on BBC Radio 2 this morning, the former Oasis frontman seemed as determined as ever to fan the flames of controversy that surrounded the Mancunian siblings.

Leaving the dissolution of the world-famous band firmly at Noel's feet, Liam silenced any rumours of a reunion.

"Oasis, that’s done mate,” he told Chris. “That’s done and has been done for a long, long time."

"Regardless of what happened over the weekend or whatever – Noel Gallagher doesn’t want it. Full stop. He’s quite happy doing his stuff. He doesn’t want to have to entertain me because he knows I won’t stand for his stuff."

For more than two decades, the brothers have made headlines due to their tempestuous relationship which has led many to question the authenticity of their supposed feud.

Raising this particular theory with the singer, Chris was met with a resounding no, with Liam saying: "A lot of people think that man, but I wouldn’t put my mum through that."

"It is the real deal. We’re not fond of each other. He’s the middle child and I came along and just spoiled the party."

And if there was any question as to whether an Oasis reunion might be in the works, Liam told the public that his brother's attitude to the industry and the public has confirmed it's a no-hoper.

"He wants to surround himself with little yes men that he can hire and fire whenever he wants, but he’s not getting that with me," Liam said.

"It doesn’t matter about me digging him out or underlining the lack of empathy and sympathy that he has for people in Manchester," he added. "That’s got nothing to do with it. Oasis is done."

Well, that's us told.

As Liam Gallagher swaggered on to the stage at the One Love Manchester concert on Sunday, gathered crowds held their breath in anticipation of the appearance of his older brother, Noel.

But as Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, joined Liam on stage for a rendition of Live Forever, the audience and viewing public were forced to conclude that the reunion millions so desperately wanted would not take place at the Old Trafford arena on this occasion.

And with Liam taking to Twitter to criticise his brother's non-appearance at a gig which will undoubtedly go down in British history, a source close to Noel has felt compelled to speak out in Noel's defence.

While Noel may not have been present at a concert organised to honour the dozens killed and injured at an Ariana Grande concert last month, the 50-year-old rockstar has been secretly doing his bit for those affected.

With Mancunians using Don't Look Back in Anger as their anthem in the weeks that followed the terrorist atrocity at the Manchester Arena, Noel has made sure to donate all royalties from the song to the victims and their families.

Commenting on the remarks and Twitter backlash which followed Noel's non-appearance, Radio X host, Gordon Smart, shared Noel's endeavours with the public.

"Loads of amazing musicians from Manchester couldn't play the gig, but none of them have been dug out. All that has come from that night is good will from most people."

"I've seen some unpleasant headlines about Noel and why he never played the gig in Manchester at the weekend," Gordan said.

"It's only right to point out, and I don't think this is public knowledge because I'm sure he would never mention it, but I found out today that as soon as Don't Look Back in Anger started to appear spontaneously at the vigils, he made sure all the royalties went back to the families."

"That was before any gig was mentioned," he added.

"It seems wrong to me that Noel's getting a hard time for a reunion he was never part of," Gordan asserted.

"It's a shame any attention at all has been taken away from a really special occasion at Old Trafford. But there you go, true fact. He gave his blessing for the songs without any drama at all."

We wonder if Liam has any idea…

Explaining the change of plan to the press and public, Jonathan's manager said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances Jonathan has had to return to NY, we are hoping to reschedule a visit to Ireland very soon."

According to previous reports, the reality star was only dying to get his teeth into some presenting on this side of the pond.

In an industry utterly obsessed with body image, it's hardly surprising that the incessant scrutiny young actresses find themselves under on a daily basis can eventually take its toll.

Having clearly had her fill of ill-advised remarks pertaining to her appearance, Sarah Hyland decided to address the narrative before highlighting the misconceptions which have been made in relation to her size.

A post shared by Sarah Hyland (@therealsarahhyland) on

The 26-year-old Modern Family star took to Twitter yesterday to both silence her critics and provide her fans with an insight into the struggles she has endured over the last 12 months.

"I'd like to address something that has not only been brought up on Twitter, but has been HEAVILY discussed by all of you in my Instagram comments. That something is my weight."

Acknowledging that she generally seeks to ignore the dialogue, Sarah admitted that she felt compelled to address it this time around.

"Here goes… I haven't had the greatest year. Maybe one day I'll talk about it but for now I'd like my privacy. I will say this year has brought a lot of changes and with that physical changes.I have been told that I can't work out. Which for me is very upsetting."

Devastated that she has been prevented from training, Sarah continued: "I am not a fan of 'being skinny'".

Having been told to 'eat a burger' and that her 'head was bigger than her body', Sarah said she agreed with her critics, writing: "No one's head should be bigger than their body but considering I've basically been put on bed rest for the past few months, I've lost a lot of muscle mass."

While Sarah is determined to return to full health, she insists that she refuses to let the public's insensitive remarks get to her, writing: "I know that when I get clearance, I will be able to get back to the strong, lean and fabulous self I know I can be."

And in a move which illustrates Sarah's understanding of her vulnerability in the public eye, she concluded by writing: "My self confidence is not rendered from your comments."

"I will always be too fat. I will always be too skinny. I will never have enough curves to be called a real woman, And I will always be a slut for wearing a push up bra."

When you don't feel well you're supposed to post vain pictures of yourself correct?

Finishing by encouraging her fans to err on the side of positivity, she wrote: "Smile, Laugh, Love, Be happy. Support your peers. Love. Work hard. Be confident. Love."

Sarah's post has been inundated with supportive comments from fans who encouraged the actress to stay positive in spite of her poor health.

"You're such an inspiration! Sending positive vibes your way and a quick recovery," wrote one.

Sarah, who rose to fame playing Hayley Dunphy in the smash hit sitcom, had a kidney transplant in 2012.

It's been six years since the world watched Pippa Middleton's older sister make her way up the aisle at Westminister Abbey to marry Prince William.

And while Pippa made an impact all of her own the day she acted as bridesmaid to Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, the 33-year-old will take centre stage as the bride at her own wedding to James Matthews later today.

Much has been made about Pippa's big day; from the guest list to her bridal party, but like anything to do with the royal family and the plethora of high-profile names contained within its inner circle, not everyone is enthused by the constant coverage.

And as a result, Twitter is, unsurprisingly, lit this morning, with some members of the public only dying to share in the excitement and others… well… not so much.

At a time when feminist rhetoric is (rightfully) taking centre stage, it takes a brave woman to reveal she has – on some level – internalised a misogynistic narrative, and allowed it to cloud her judgement at times.

While reflecting on her role in One Day, Anne Hathaway admitted that she feels a sense of shame over her perspective on the work created by the film's female director, Lone Scherfig.

"I am to this day scared that the reason I didn’t trust her the way I trust some of the other directors I work with is because she’s a woman," the 34-year-old admitted.

"I’m so scared that I treated her with internalised misogyny. I’m scared that I didn’t give her everything that she needed or I was resisting her on some level." she continued.

And Anne admits that this wasn't an isolated event, revealing that she often adjusts her perspective depending on the gender of the director.

"It’s something that I’ve thought a lot about in terms of when I get scripts to be directed by women. When I get a script, when I see a first film directed by a woman, I have in the past focused on what was wrong with it."

"And when I see a film directed by a man, I focus on what’s right with it," she added. "I had actively tried to work with female directors, and I still had this mindset buried in there somewhere."

Acknowledging the backlash she may receive as a result of her admission, Anne insists she is aware how this may be perceived and is actively working on adjusting her stance.

"It feels like a confession, but I think it’s something we should talk about… I can only acknowledge that I’ve done that and I don’t want to do that any more."

Despite her apparent regret, Anne has revealed that she has never apologised to Lone directly, but intends to do so

Addressing her critics, Shannon explained that she recently came out as bisexual to friends and family, and was ignorant of the term 'queerbaiting'.

"I don't normally do this, but I figure now is as good a time as any to get personal," Shannon began in the post.

"I've only just recently came out as bisexual to my family and friends. It's something I am still processing and  trying to understand and I don't like talking about it too much."

"I'm very, very new to the LGBT community. I have never heard the term 'queerbaiting' in my life until today. That being said I have never ever wanted to alienate anyone and my tweet was thoughtless."

"Thank you to all the people who kindly reached out to me and educated me about the reality your feelings about queerbaiting and I apologise to those who were hurt."
