If there was ever a time to don your most satirically sound ensemble, the British Fashion Awards would be it. 

As with any red carpet event, the style stakes were high, and the celebrities came out in force to prove their fashion credentials. 

There were plenty of head turning looks that got everyone talking, from feathered pyjama sets to skin tight silk. 

1. Alexa Chung

Hailed as the reigning queen of British style and the ultimate fashion it-girl, Alexa's look didn't disappoint on the red carpet.

This pale yellow, feathered pyjama set hit all of this years trend marks, and the designer's slicked back hair and signature red lip complemented the busy ensemble.

2. Gigi Hadid

Model-of-the-moment Gigi showed off her killer figure in a skin tight Versace Couture silk jumpsuit. 

The star won the International model of the year award, which isn't surprising after modelling for major brands like Victoria's Secret, Tommy Hilfiger and Vogue this year.

3. Karlie Kloss

This Victoria's Secret veteran cut a striking figure in this slim line, cut-out column dress.

While Karlie was absent from this year's show due to other commitments, the model channelled the VS vibe with glamorous waves and a cat eye flick. 

4. Mollie King

The ex-Saturdays star opted for a boho-chic look in a floral gown, but kept things autumnal with a berry toned palette. 

She also opted for a very Sienna Miller-esque beauty look, with loose waves and natural make up. 

5. Pixie Lott

Songstress Pixie went bold in the novelty accessory of the season, the tiara. 

Keeping with the regal vibe, Pixie added her tiara to a Dolce & Gabbana fishtail style gown which wouldn't look out of place at a royal ball.

Actress and ex-flame of Prince Harry Jenna Coleman stunned in this Erdem Spring 2017 ruffed dress.

Her dramatic liner and loose up-do contrasted perfectly with the prim and proper gown.

7. Lily Donaldson

The Victoria's Secret models were out in force at the British Fashion Awards,  and Lily Donaldson made a statement in a sheer, dusty pink dress.

The full length gown featured intricate embroidered and showed off her model figure to perfection. 

8. Olivia Palermo

The ultimate fashion insider Olivia Palermo rocked an oriental inspired dress, accentuating the statement look with maximalist earrings and an iridescent clutch.

We're not totally sold on those shoes though.

It was a seemingly innocent celebrity-spotting snap that was deleted within minutes, but fashion editor Laura Craik says she has faced a "week of hell" as a result.

The writer experienced huge backlash online after she posted a photo of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini which accidentally appeared to link the singer to Class A drugs.

Laura's "impulse" photo, which showed Cheryl washing her hands in a bathroom at the British Fashion Awards last month, came under scrutiny as it showed what appeared to be three white lines on the glass counter next to the star.

Further investigation proved that the marks were most likely nothing more than the reflection of the lights above. However Laura says she was framed "as the villian" for posting the snap, despite having decided to delete the photo even before noticing the reflection and what it could be interpreted as.

"Back at my table, I opened Instagram in order to delete the picture from my feed. And that was when I noticed another detail, one that really was no laughing matter," she says in a piece published in the Evening Standard.

"Despite the fact that all my photo showed was a reflection on a mirrored surface — a chimera — the story rolled on all week.

"While this was upsetting, it was nowhere near as upsetting as the experience of being trolled, viciously, on Twitter, by an army of Cheryl fans who genuinely thought I had sold my picture in a bid to frame their idol as some sort of drug user."

Laura says she most definitely was no trying to capitalise on the unfortunate detail, and indeed had apologised to Cheryl via an email to her PR team within 12 hours of the photo being posted.

"Rather than working against her, I worked with her to get the picture banned, by signing over copyright.

"I didn’t make thousands selling it to a tabloid. I made a nominal £1 [€1.41]." 

Cheryl has yet to make any comment about Laura's explanation on social media.

Poppy Delevingne threw the mother of all don't-you-know-who-I-am tantrums when she was refused entry to a VIP area at the British Fashion Awards in London last week… because the bouncers clearly didn't know who she was. 

The big sister to model/actress of the moment, Cara Delevingne was at St Martin’s Lane Hotel’s Asia de Cuba bar and a bouncer presumably said: "If your name’s not Cara Delevingne you’re not coming in."

The model was with actress Kate Bosworth at the time and and one point she was heard saying, "This is b******t and you’re going to lose your job tomorrow. Congratulations." Harsh Pop!

Kate was then seen urging her friend to "get the f**k out of here," and the pair left in a rather grumpy mood. Eek!

Lesson learned: Don't get on the wrong side of Poppy!

At first glance, this photo reportedly taken of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini at last night's British Fashion Awards appears perfectly innocuous.

Washing her hands in the sink of a public bathroom, Cheryl is looking away from the camera and seems unaware the photo is being taken. But a quick glance at the bottom half of the photo shows something very incriminating – what appear to be four lines of white powder.

According to The Sun, fashion editor Laura Craik posted the photo to her personal Instagram account with the caption "Sadness in her eyes."

She deleted it almost immediately, but not before some of her eagle-eyed followers had screen-grabbed it.

A source close to Cheryl has today strongly denied anything untoward was going on and insists the X Factor judge was only there to use the bathroom.

The source adds there is nothing to suggest that the singer was aware of any white powder in her vicinity.

"It’s outrageous that someone in the fashion industry has taken a picture of Cheryl like this and posted it publicly," the insider tells The Sun.

"She absolutely despises drugs and any connection linking her to them is ridiculous. She was just using the toilet."

Cheryl is reportedly in talks with her lawyers and is considering legal action against Ms. Craik, who is well known in the fashion industry and has over 5,000 followers on Instagram.

The singer is not the first celebrity to have denied taking drugs after awards show footage went viral.

Shortly after August's MTV VMAs, a video of Taylor Swift holding something up to her nose while a team of assistants blocked her from the view of backstage cameras made it online.

A member of her team could be seen checking her nose with a torch before she walked away.

The clip was uploaded onto YouTube and viewed several thousand times before it was removed. Taylor's reps later said the singer was simply blowing her nose and didn't want the footage to make it onto MTV.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Victoria Beckham, Anna Wintour, Rita Ora and Lady Gaga were just some of the stars who took to the red carpet in London for the prestigious awards show.

An unexpected style hitter last night, Mollie wowed in monochrome (as did the gorgeous David Gandy).

Stylist Angela worked a Charlotte Olympia dress… and THOSE River Island shoes. Win. 

 

Jourdan Dunn
Another monochrome wonder, this halter-necked dress is perfect for Jourdan's slender figure.

 

Lily Allen
Lily's petrol-blue lace dress matches her hair to a T – and we love that boxy Chanel handbag. Though she did don a VERY questionable blue raincoat later in the night.

 

Pixie Lott
Definitely a revealing choice, but Pixie pulls it off. Bonus points for the rose gold hair *swoon*

 

Rita Ora
The X Factor judge was a vision in velvet, with silver button detailing on her high-necked dress. Love.

 

Rosie Huntington-Whitely
What would a red carpet be without Rosie in a plunging dress? A safe look for the model, but it works.

As if these two needed to get any cuter! In another display of what can only be described as true love, Victoria Beckham shed tears as she accepted an award during the British Fashion Awards last night.

As she took to the stage to accept her award for Brand of the Year, Victoria thanked her husband, saying that he inspires her everyday and sweetly saying: “I adore you”. Pass the tissues please!

David is currently recovering from a car accident in which he and his son Brooklyn were involved. The retired footballer was said to have been left shaken and with an injured shoulder following the crash. 

How sweet that he still accompanied his wife to the awards show – we love it!

You know that awful sinking feeling you get when you see your ex coming towards you and there is NOWHERE to hide?!

Well, just be lucky there isn’t a camera there to catch your reaction like there was for poor Harry Styles and his ex-girlfriend Kendall Jenner!

Kendall was walking up a flight of stairs at the British Fashion Awards in London last night with her current BFF Cara Delevingne when they ran into Harry at the top. Harry is also rumoured to have dated the English model, though nothing was ever confirmed.

Keeping her friend close, Kendall smiled sweetly at Harry who awkwardly kept his gaze firmly on Cara for the entire exchange. Eek!

Another of Harry’s former loves, Taylor Swift, is also in London at the moment as she prepared to perform at the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show tonight.

It sounds like Harry might be having more than one awkward run-in before this week is over!
