If you were one of the people who made a trip to the cinema to see Katniss and crew do their thing, then you’re part responsible for the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 $500 million ticket sales and also helped make the movie number one in the overseas box office!

However, these stats and figures aren’t exactly overwhelming movie execs as last year’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opened to an enormous $158.1 million which is substantially higher than its sequel’s debut weekend which ‘only’ took in $121.9 million.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 has yet to open in China, however, so there’s no doubt that the film’s profits are only set to rise once it hits the big screens over there in 2015.

The world’s second biggest film market is bound to have an impact on proceeds, right?
