Bobbi Brown

Just over a year after being discovered unresponsive at her Atlanta home, the cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown's death has been revealed.

The 22-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston died from a combination of drug intoxication and drowning, a statement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed this morning.

Bobbi was discovered face down in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta townhouse on January 31, 2015. She remained on life support in hospital until June of last year, before being moved to hospice care where she passed away on July 26th.

A full autopsy report will soon be released, after a judge yesterday granted a media request for the results to be unsealed.

According to the statement released today, Bobbi had marijuana and alcohol in her system at the time of the incident, along with medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety.

TMZ report that the drugs in her system included "a cocaine-related substance called benzoylecgonine, benzodiazepines (prescription anti-anxiety meds) and morphine.

Bobbi's boyfriend Nick Gordon was last year served with a civil lawsuit by the Brown/Houston family in relation to his treatment of Bobbi before her death.

Mr Gordon, who recently completed a stint in rehab, was accused of punching his girlfriend in the face, knocking out a front tooth and dragging her upstairs by her hair.

It is also alleged that he "routinely" transferred funds "into an account controlled solely by him" without having her consent or authorisation.

Speaking to the media four months after her death, Bobbi's aunt Pat Houston said her family had known that Bobbi was in trouble with drugs and alcohol, and were hoping to send her to rehab before the January 2015 incident.

"When we really found out that Krissy [Bobbi Kristina] was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it… but it came too late," she said in an Entertainment Tonight interview recorded last November.

Many fans noted that Bobbi's death bore a sad resemblance to that of her mother Whitney.

The music icon was discovered submerged in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hilton in February 2012, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

So we know there are only two weeks left of autumn and therefore two weeks until the official start of winter (NOOO!),  but there is still plenty of time to incorporate the autumnal colour palette into your make up regime.

Sumptuous burnt oranges, leafy greens and deep, mahogany browns were all big beauty trends on this year's A/W catwalks.

You know what we’re talking about.

Here’s how you can embrace autumn on your face:

1. Autumn Flame

The trend: Burnt, smoky oranges are the perfect autumnal colours as seen here on the A/W 2015 catwalk for Hervé Léger . Don't be afraid to embrace these sultry tones across the face.

Make it work for you: Use a pigmented, bright orange across the eyelid (smoke out with a soft brown if it is too intense). Then take a soft coral toned blush across the cheeks and finish with a peachy hue on the lips for a look that ignites your features.

2. Autumn Forest

The trend: Forget the traditional smoky eye using black and grey tones and opt instead for warm brown hues.

Make it work for you: Use a beige eye shadow for the inner crease before using a deep mahogany shade across the entire outer eye area. Smoke this colour right out to the crease and underneath the lash line. Use a gold or honey shadow to bring the autumnal shade right up to the lash line. Keep the rest of the face matte and nude; finish with a brown eyeliner or mascara.

3. Autumn Leaves

The trend: Green might not be the first colour you think of when doing your eyeshadow but deep greens are really gorgeous in combination especially with sallow skin. Just as browns enhance a green eye, greens do the same for brown eyes.

Make it work for you: Use a soft brown tone on the lids and inner eye area before smoking out with a deep, forest green shade. Use a green liner to define the eyes and finish with a brown mascara.

It's by no-means a brand-new beauty technique. Still, when Kim Kardashian revealed that she relied on contouring to achieve her perfect red-carpet makeup look, just about everyone started similarly highlighting, toning and sculpting.

But while the Kardashian-Jenner clan remain firm-fans of the practice to this day – one makeup mogul strongly disagrees with its popularity.

“When I see contouring on people’s faces it looks like dirt,” Bobbi Brown told the New York Post.

“As a beauty expert, I believe in individual beauty, and it’s just not my aesthetic. We don’t need to be contouring like the Kardashians.”

Instead, the 58-year-old Chicago-native champions a natural, healthy and fresh face: she says we should all be highlighting our natural cheekbones with a creamy rouge, or else a moisturiser that gives a subtle glow.

“The contouring trend is so wrong because it tells women there’s something wrong with their face,” Ms Brown added. “There’s beauty in a full face, so I don’t like to paint in a cheekbone that doesn’t exist.”

That's not all: Bobbi went on to dismiss the big-lip look that Kim's little sister, Kylie Jenner, has made so famous.

“Lip-plumping and fillers never work,” she says. “We’re not all born with Angelina Jolie lips… and whoever said small lips aren’t beautiful?”

Ms Brown suggests lining lips with a soft purplish pencil – like the €22.50 Bobbi Brown lip liner in Bobbi, a shade she designed for herself – for a faint enhancement.

After months in hospital, Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Brown has been moved from hospital into hospice care, as he health continues to worsen.

A statement from the Houston family was released to the media today via the newsgathering outlet Associated Press. "Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate," read the message from Bobbi's aunt Pat Houston.

"As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God’s hands now.”

It is believed that the 22-year-old has been taken off life support and all medications helping to keep her alive, and that her organs are now failing. Bobbi has not regained consciousness since she was discovered face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of January.

This is the first time Bobbi's family have made an official statement about her condition in months, despite constant unfounded rumours that the young singer was either getting better or getting worse. On numerous occasions her death was also wrongly reported in the media.

Back in March, Bobbi's father Bobby Brown told crowds at a public appearance in Texas that his daughter was "awake" and "watching" him, although he later became clear he did not mean the statement literally. The R&B star, who was married to Whitney Houston for 14 years, was said to be pushing for Bobbi to be kept on life support, though other family members had different wishes.

Bobby and Pat were appointed co-guardians of the tragically ill singer last month. The bad news comes three years after Whitney herself died following a similar incident.

The music icon was discovered submerged in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hilton in February 2012, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Back in March, Kate Upton was announced as the new face of Bobbi Brown and the supermodel looks absolutely flawless in the campaign.

The 22-year-old, who replaces Katie Holmes, is the face of Bobbi Brown’s Surf and Sand collection and the campaign has a true California beach vibe to it.

Kate was chosen to represent the brand by its founder Bobbi Brown, who was looking for someone “confident” and “independent” and Kate certainly is both of these.

The actress admits that she likes to keep things simple when it comes to make-up and Bobbi Brown even admitted: “Kate came to the shoot without a stitch of makeup, she is the girl next door, really fresh and the epitome of all-American.”

The blonde beauty will be showcasing the brand’s new range of colours including sandy neutrals, surfy blues and sunset pinks just in time for the summer.

The campaign will be launched in July.
