Protecting your hair from the harsh winter elements can be tricky at best, but we’ve got you covered. Think of us like cuddly pals who are strangely obsessed with keeping your hair flawless in winter.

From static frizz to brittle split ends, there are all kinds of reasons why Christmas season wreaks havoc on hair.

Hat-head aftermath and cashmere-caused static are two major culprits, but applying heat to your locks from blow-drying wet hair also leads to trouble in hair paradise.

"How do I go from Coldilocks to Snow Queen this Christmas?", we hear you ask.

Introducing our cheat sheet for your winter hair:

1. DON’T leave your house with wet hair, this is a one way trip to Flu Land. Wet hair can also break easily if it’s frozen from the drop in temperature, just don’t do it gals.

2. Try to keep a balanced temperature in your home so you don’t have massive shocks when you leave the house or come in from work: this can irritate both your skin and scalp.

3. Turn the hot water in your shower down just a tad, your hair will thank you later.

In the winter, we all crave scalding hot showers to allow our bodies to regulate its temperature after spending all day in the cold, but hot water isn’t good for your hair, it actually dehydrates it.

By keeping it just above lukewarm, you’ll prevent having dry skin and scalp. Keep the moisture in your mane, huns.

To prevent those precious oils from escaping, we recommend Argan oil products. Acure Organics Moroccan Argan Oil has ingredients like buckthorn oil and pumpkin seed oil, which are both rich in fatty acids for retaining moisture.

4. Coconut oil is also renowned for treating dry and brittle hair in winter. Use 100% organic coconut oil from your local health foods shop and spot the difference in time for Santa to make it down the chimney.

5. John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7-Day Treatment targets deflated hair fibres—plumping them up for days, some say it even lasts a week. John Frieda, you Christmas angel.

6. Use heat protection before blow drying your hair, try Tresemmé Keratin Smooth 7 Day System Heat Activated Treatment. It’s heat-activated, which means the substance is offering a semi-permanent solution to that crown of stray hairs. MAGICAL.

7. OUR TOP TIP: We are absolutely WORSHIPPING Santa’s little hairdryer right now: LanaiBLO.

Keep your hair dry and bouncy with volume by using the Limited Edition Rose Gold LanaiBLO.

Let it snow then let it blow, we say. They promise to keep your hair shimmering and shiny with an ultra sleek finish, it’s also an ideal gift for your loved ones if you’re stuck for a present.

However, this hairdryer is so gorge that you’ll most likely want to keep it all to yourself… we know we do.

It’s lightweight, has an ultra long cord so you can dry your hair without having to linger near the plug socket and comes in three colours; pretty-in-pink, snow white and midnight black.

It’s technology works to seal in moisture and counteract frizz, leaving those locks more stylish than ever for all those Christmas parties and celebrations.

Those of us who still have a 90's heavyweight hairdryer will know the struggle of trying to dry your hair with the equivalent of a minor breeze. *sigh*

Holly Willoughby, Dani Dyer, Made in Chelsea’s Binky and Rosie, Frankie Gaff, Una Healy, models Rosanna Davidson and Lottie Moss are among LanaiBlo's famous clients, and for a good reason.

Ladies, none of us can deny the fact that getting a delicious blow dry makes us feel famous.

Thankfully, blow dry bars are the latest rage in Dublin, and we could not be happier about it tbh.

At Galligan Beauty Group, those coveted blow drys now only cost €10 (we're NOT kidding) and they get you, and your gorgeous new hair, out the door in plenty of time for your night on the town.

"Every person’s favourite aspect of having their hair professionally done is the feeling afterwards of fresh, soft, and blown-out hair. The only problem is, this feeling is usually limited to the infrequent occasions of expensive hair appointments," said Bill Galligan, of Galligan Beauty Group.

In an attempt to increase the frequency, and lower the cost of that feeling, blow dry bars came on the scene. They are a huge hit and are the solution to unruly hair and provide much-needed confidence boosts.

The gorgeous folks at Galligan even highlighted their steps to achieving the perfect blow dry, and we're impressed.

1. Shampooing: A Galligan stylist massages your locks leaving them clean and glistening – yes please.

2. Conditioning: A conditioning treatment is then given, moisturising and healing your hair leaving it silky smooth.

3. Decision Time: Some women choose to go the route of light, beachy waves or glossy and straight.

4. Styling: Your stylist then uses a combination of brushing, blow-drying, and product to give you your desired style, leaving your hair soft, healthy, and bouncy.

5. Showing Off: Just like that, you are free to go about your day showing off your beautiful, fresh hair (dead right!)

The salon is located on Grafton Street, and is the blow dry solution to any bad hair day.

A bouncy blow dry is the cherry on top of an epic night out outfit.

As you may have spotted on your favourite social media influencer's Instagram, Dry & Fly is the hottest spot to indulge in a little post-work pampering, and now the cult blow dry bar is opening a brand new location.

Just weeks after opening their first salon, nestled above L'Occitane Wicklow Street, Dry & Fly Blow Dry Beauty Bar is extending their well-trussed hair styling tendrils out to Merrion Row.

A post shared by D R Y & F L Y (@dryandflydublin) on

The blow dry bar posted a puzzle to their Instagram page, which ultimately revealed the brand new location.

If you haven't been to the Wicklow Street haven yet, Dry & Fly is designed with the sole purpose of bringing women together for some quality time, all while getting pampered ahead of a night out.

The salon is open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday for those pre-night out blow dry sessions, and from 7am to 7pm through the rest of the week, so hopefully the new location will be the same.

Thr new spot is rumoured to be opening at the end of August, so keep those eyes peeled.

Penneys has it all, from quirky homeware to bargain beauty bits and everything in between.

Now, the mega-brand is branching out into hair styling, after the mega success of its PS… beauty collection.

Heat styling tools are always a little bit pricey, and between accumulating a straightener, curler, and hair dryer, the costs can start to seriously add up.

Straightener €6.50

Luckily, Penneys has just introduced a range of heat styling tools, and we're kind of in disbelief at the prices.

For as little as €6.50, you can add to your hair care routine.

We're obsessed with the mini straighteners, as the adorable little tool is the ideal size to slot into a weekend bag for a night away with the girls.

Straightener €14.00, Curler €11.00

Fancy a full size tool? No problem. The very same straightener, but twice the size, is also available.

Big, loose curls are the perfect night out look, but mastering GHD curls isn't for all of us.

Penneys has also brought out a curling wand to tackle the bouncy blow dry look on a major budget.

Hair dryer €8.00

Need a basic blow dryer? This €8.00 metallic bad boy ticks all the boxes.

The Penneys Gods have been good…

Getting ready for a big night out can often be the best part of the entire night.

Getting the girls around for 'a few' pre-drinks while everyone primps and preens themselves over a glass of gin & tonic is where the goss is divulged, and sometimes leaving the house for the club gets pushed back later and later thanks to the catch ups

I'm usually a no fuss, no frills kind of girl, and if my hair gets brushed before hitting the bar, I consider myself made up.

Dry & Fly Blow Dry Beauty Bar, nestled on the second floor above L'Occitane on Wicklow Street, is designed with the sole purpose of bringing women together for some quality time, all while getting pampered ahead of a night out.

I went along to see exactly what pre drinks pampering was all about, and to get a sneak peek of what is destined to be one of Dublin's buzziest salons.

The city centre space is, for want of a better term, Instagram-worthy, with a modern but feminine aesthetic, assisted by the paint washed exposed brick, pink neon signs and copper accents.

Steven, the giant dog statue, who looks like a piece of art, is actually a speaker imported from France for the sole purpose of bringing the ultimate ladies night playlist to Dry & Fly's clients, adds to the ambience.

The blow drying stations are positioned specifically so that groups of gal pals can get their hair and nails done as a group ahead of an event, and the salon offers each client a glass of Glendalough gin and tonic garnished with blood orange and rosemary (delish) or a glass of Prosecco to get the party started.

The beauty bar even boasts a DJ booth, where local DJs spin tracks on Friday and Saturday nights while clients enjoy their luxurious blowdries.

Andrew O'Neill, one of the founders and visionaries behind the salon, sought to create a cool, collective experience for women to go straight from the salon to their destination, freshly made up and ready to take the town.

Big, bouncy blow outs are the aim of the creative stylists at Dry & Fly, and and their look book features all the classics, from the sleek and straight glossy blow out to Hollywood waves.

For those feeling a little more experimental, the salon stylists are also well versed in festival braids, dramatic pony tails and up-dos.

A post shared by SHEmazing! (@shemazingie) on

The salon deal exclusively with Kevin Murphy hair products, a staple in the beauty arsenals of both beauty bloggers and professional hair stylists across the country.

Gin in hand and after a quick flick through the salon's look book, I settled on the Ty Twist blow dry, a beachy, bouncy look that gave life to my long and admittedly lifeless locks.

I opted for the full experience, getting my hair washed in one of the salon's comfy basins, with a full view of the painted letters on the ceiling, which read 'relax, you're not cheating on your hairdresser.'

You can also come in with your hair washed and just go straight for a dry blow out.

I sat down in one of the socially set-out chairs to have my hair and nails done simultaneously, feeling like I was one pink silk robe away from a backstage Victoria's Secret moment.

The salon seats, laid out so that friends can face each other and chat, were ideal for receiving both treatments at once.

Having two stylists working on my hair and nails seemed like the ultimate pinnacle of having notions, but hey, who doesn't want to feel like they're working with a Kardahian-esque glam squad at least once in their lives?

The salon is open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday for those pre-night out blow dry sessions, and from 7am to 7pm through the rest of the week.

The stunning new beauty boutique features a living wall covered in plants, as well as luxurious pink velvet furnishings.

Not only does the new lounge look amazing, but the beauty treatments available are giving us life.

The new beauty bonanza of a boutique is open from 7am, so if you have a big event right after work, you can get your blow dry and your mani before you head to the office for the day.

The price list is astonishingly affordable, with eyelash extensions coming in at €30.00 and brow tinting costing €10.00.

Their braiding bar charges €19.00 for plaited styles, so get booking before festival season!

We're also extremely intrigued by the Unicorn Manicure, which sounds absolutely amazing.

Whether you're running to work and your hair will just NOT sit right, or you're going out for a night on the town and your gruaige is as flat as a punctured car tyre, it can be super annoying when our manes are unruly.

And add that with having zero time to actually do anything about it… well, let's just say it's a disaster waiting to happen.

But stop right there, because we came across a place that specialises in blow drys – and it's our dreams coming true.

Roller Blow Bar in Forbes Street is the prefect place to go if you just need a little pick-me-up. All you have to do is sit back, pick a style, relax and listen to their awesome music.

The Shemazing! girls popped in one Friday evening to see what this salon is all about, and we certainly weren't disappointed.

Between the exceptional service (we were laughing and chatting all the way through), to the comfort and relaxed atmosphere, it was just the place to go after a busy working day.

We decided to go for two looks, one for long hair and one for short hair, just to see what each outcome was like.

Our long-haired gal ended up with Serena VenderWoodsen hair (yes, we're going through a Gossip Girl phase at the moment). She was styled by the lovely Jennifer who did an incredible curly blow dry full of bounce using various size click and curl brushes and Unites U-Oil, Boosta spray and a light spritz of GO365 hairspray.

For the short hairstyle, we decided to go for a loose beach wave styled by Lain. His technique was a mixture of blow drying with a GHD brush and then defining sections with a large barrel GHD tongs. Lain also used three products from the Unite range – U-Oil as heat protection, Beach Day to prep the waves and Unite Tricky spray to finish off the look.

Have a look at the video to check out how we got on. Oh, and did we mention they open from 7AM Monday to Friday? Perfect if you need that little boost before work!

As bizarre as he is brilliant: Mehmet Gunes is a canine stylist based in Paris (where else?).

Thankfully for the rest of us, he also frequently posts videos and pictures of his 'clients' on social media.

His grooming specialities range from huge hounds to teeny pooches.

Most prominently featured are lots of adorable pomeranians – of which we frankly just can't get enough of (there's even a grumpy cat in there too).

A warning before you proceed, however: these guys are so cute and fluffy you may just shed a little tear of joy…
