Rami Malek is a treasure who must be protected at ALL COSTS.

The 37-year-old won the prestigious Best Actor gong at the 91st Academy Awards last night, his first win and nomination, so his nerves are understandable.

The adorable, immensely talented actor was kissing his co-star girlfriend Lucy Boynton the entire night, and we don't blame him. It was basically Wezz. He declared his love for her in his speech, and pretty much everyone melted.

Malek and Boynton play Freddie Mercury and Mary Austin in Bohemian Rhapsody, which was the biggest winner of the night but failed to win Best Picture, and the world has fallen in love with them.

On stage, Rami professed his love for the 25-year-old English actress before falling off afterwards and had to be treated by paramedics, which will 100 percent make a great story to tell the grandkids.

He said, "Lucy Boynton, you are the heart of this film, you are beyond immensely talented, you have captured my heart. Thank you so much." AW. He also opened up about his Egyptian heritage;

Malek is apparently moving to London to be around his love, after totally falling for her. The poor lad even fell off the stage with the shock of his award, with People reporting that Malek was moved to a private area backstage.

"Paramedics appeared to rush to the actor's aide, who was photographed seated in the front row with his Oscars statuette still in hand. Malek was then moved to a private area backstage, where he received further treatment for possible injuries."

Malek was unable to pose with Mahershala Ali, Regina King and Olivia Colman, who also won big at the Academy Awards in the Dolby theatre. He was featured in a photo with them after the ceremony however.

Bohemian Rhapsody was the biggest winner of the night, taking home the awards for Best Actor, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Film Editing.

Spike Lee, director of BlacKkKlansman, was NOT happy when Green Book took home Best Picture, which has been controversially labelled a "white saviour" movie.

Queen featuring Adam Lambert opened up the Oscars instead of an opening monologue, as the ceremony went hostless without Kevin Hart.

Lady Gaga sure knows how to handle a dodgy interviewer, but watching her absolutely roast Ryan Seacrest alive on the Grammys red carpet pre-show has us majorly cringing on his behalf.

E!'s Ryan Seacrest interviewed Gaga alongside her Shallow co-writers Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Anthony Rossomando, and it got painfully awkward way too fast.

He first congratulated the songstress on her Grammy win for Best Song Written for Visual Media in the non-televised ceremony, and then asked her details about her upcoming performance at the Academy Awards with Bradley Cooper.

"Next it is the Oscars, and a live performance with Bradley Cooper," said Seacrest, before handing the microphone to the singer without asking her an actual question.

The 32-year-old star mouthed yes, that she would be singing opposite Cooper, but the Joanne artist had no interest in sharing any more information on the matter.

A microphone dance ensues which has us on the floor; come ON Ryan, step it up. We have to wonder if something happened between them before, because Gaga looks like she is the farthest thing from his fan.

"You're like, 'Answer my question, but I'm not asking one,'" joked Gaga. While the initial interaction was awkward enough for us all, the interview ended on a friendly note. Thank GAWD.

Ryan cut to commercial after the pair hugged, which looked as if Gaga just did it to finally put an end to the painful experience.

Seacrest was inquiring about the Oscars, and asked about the path to all the awards. "How long did it take to write the song?," the Live With Kelly and Ryan co-host asked, referencing Shallow.

"Actually it was quick," Gaga remembered, with Mark Ronson saying it all came together within a month. We just wish that interview ended quicker…

A photograph taken of our Lord and Saviour Queen Bey and arguably the world's current most popular singer-songwriter has sparked a MAJOR debate online about gender and an artists' 'brand'.

Why? Well, mainly because Ed was dressed like he was popping down to the local Spar to grab a one litre carton of milk, while Beyoncé was dressed, I mean, like BEYONCÉ. Fierce, fiesty and fabulous.

A few Twitter users have claimed that this displays an attitude towards gender norms, showing the expectations which women have on their shoulders to look stunning 24 hours a day, while men can wear whatever they damn well please.

The two global superstars performed together in Johannesburg, South Africa last weekend to celebrate the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100.

The duo paid homage to the late Nelson Mandela, who Beyoncé claims has hugely impacted on her parenting principles with her three children; Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir.

Of course, the pair simply had to perform the gift of their huge worldwide hit, Perfect, which the crowd essentially sang louder than them. Yet their choice of clothing has grabbed nearly the entirety of the focus.

Beyoncé has always worn the most EXTRA outfits in the business because it's part of her essence, her brand and her overall look.

She is a massive lover of fashion, even designing her own lines, while Sheeran has always been open about stripping back everything so that only his musical talent is on display.

Singer-songwriters always perform with the hope that their stories within the songs are what is focused on, whereas Beyoncé is a performer.

She uses choreography, graphics, lighting, backing vocals, political statements, her own music AND fashion to make her statements.

Lest we forget, her iconic Coachella performance was famed for the fashion choice as well as it's artistic mastery. Her On the Run tour outfits have changed the GAME of musical attire, her Formation hats especially grabbing the attention.

They exacerbate her talent, but we all know that if we strip Queen Bey of her dress choice, her choreography and her light show and graphic background, she would still deliver an incredible performance.

Yet numerous Twitter users argue that male artists can stand on their talent alone, whereas women must always have a more-than-presentable appearance, they must always have something else for their audience.

Ed Sheeran could wear a pin-striped suit if he so desired, but this would not run parallel with the branding behind his music. His image is the fact that he has no image; it's all about his own chill, laid-back vibe.

He has gained notoriety especially in the States for his appearance, or seeming lack of effort, yet this normal attitude towards fame is what allowed him to stand out in the first place.

He wasn't trying to get attention, he simply became a phenomenon for his musical gift alone. He was relatable, a man of simple taste with a great voice and immense penchant for songwriting. Artists should be able to decide their own looks and style, without their labels, the media or even their fans interfering.

Other humorous online statements are simply trying to dispel all the tension…

Do their outfits say more than we think?

Plenty of female singer-songwriters wear less elaborate, glamorous clothing, such as our new best friend Sigrid, who noticeably wears zero make-up onstage and sports only a plain white t-shirt and jeans.

Perhaps it would be best if we simply allowed artists, not to mention the general society at large, to wear whatever they please without having to worry about the incessant judgement of fans and random Twitter users.

Just a thought?

We'll be honest, if you had told us two years ago that Niall Horan would end up being the most successful member of One Direction we probably would have laughed at the idea – but oh how wrong we were.

With two top 10 singles and a critically acclaimed album under his belt, the Mullingar native has prove that life post-1D isn't that bad after all.

Sure, the other lads have had their fair share of successful, but none have made waves in the music industry quite like our Nialler.

Zayn and Harry who?

Last night, the Slow Hands singer was finally given the recognition he deserves when he scooped the Best New Artist Award at the star-studded American Music Awards in Los Angeles, triumphing over fellow nominees, James Arthur, Julia Michaels, Post Malone and Rae Sremmurd.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Niall said: “This is unbelievable. I've had a hell of a year. To be put in that category with some of my friends was unbelievable enough.”

He then went on to dedicate the award to his fans and thanked them for their support throughout his career.

The future is looking bright for the Mullingar man.

The woman responsible for exposing the 'Tuam Mother and Baby' scandal has been awarded with a Human Rights Award by the Bar of Ireland.

Catherine Corless worked tirelessly over the course of two years in an effort to establish why the skeletons of hundreds of infants had been found in a hole in the grounds of Saint Mary's mother and baby home in Galway.

Struggling to acquire assistance from authorities, Catherine paid €4 per death certificate for every infant who died in the home, and ultimately established that almost 800 children had perished while under the care of the church on that site alone.

Catherine's efforts were brought to national attention in May 2014, and a commission was subsequently established in February 2015.

The commission ultimately confirmed that 'significant” quantities of human remains had been found buried under the Tuam home site.

Commenting on the award, Catherine said: "I am truly honoured to receive The Bar of Ireland Human Rights Award."

"My work campaigning on behalf of the survivors of mother and baby homes continues and I hope that this special award will give even more survivors the strength to come forward to tell their story."

"With each and every testimony the truth is uncovered further and our campaign for justice to prevail is strengthened. I share this Award with the all survivors, this is for them."

Paying tribute to the Galway-based historian, Paul McGarry SC, chairman of the council of the Bar of Ireland said: "She has worked tirelessly on their behalf and has shone a light on a dark period of our history, passionately represented the victims and their rights at all times, often in the face of adversity,"

Known for her light-hearted approach to life, it’s not often we see Ellen DeGeneres cry.

But the star was left teary eyed in the White House yesterday as she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

The 58-year-old comedian was one of 21 people – which included Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, Diana Ross, Michael Jordan and Bruce Springsteen – who were granted the prestigious award in acknowledgement of their contributions to American society.

Praising the host’s decision to publicly reveal her sexuality despite the effect it could have had on her career, the President said: “It’s easy to forget now…just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages almost 20 years ago.”

He acknowledged the effect that move had on the LGBT community and the general public as it forced people to “challenge [their] assumptions and remind [them they] have more in common than [they] realise”.

“What an incredible burden that was to bare,” he said.  “To risk your career like that.  People don’t do that very often.”

Mr Obama then decided to make a joke to “break the mood” as he felt himself “getting kind of choked up” while speaking of Ellen.

The celebrated television presenter came out as a lesbian in 1997.  Her sitcom, Ellen, was cancelled shortly afterwards, leaving her unemployed and “mired in depression”.

She married Portia de Rossi at their Beverly Hills home in August 2008.

They’ve one of the most talked about celebrity relationships of recent years, but that hasn’t stopped fans from weeping with joy over Drake’s love declaration for Rihanna at last night’s VMAs.

While presenting the Work singer with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award – aka the MTV VMA Lifetime Achievement Award – Drake dedicated a heartfelt speech to “the most beautiful, talented woman [he has] ever seen in [his] life”.

In a modern fairytale moment – which saw Drake stand in full tux professing his love for a satin gowned Rihanna – the rapper described RiRi as “one of [his] best friends in the world” and “someone [he’s] been in love with since [he] was 22 years old”.  Awhhh!

During his speech he spoke candidly about the first time he and the Barbadian beauty met – FYI it was 11 years ago in a restaurant called Avocado – and how despite having now achieved an “untouchable level” of success, Rihanna has remained totally true to herself.

He said:  “Some artists need to play a character to achieve success, some need to downplay their own natural instincts to blend in.  She succeeds by doing something no one in this industry does, which is being herself.”

Fans of the pair were quick to announce their own joy at Drake’s revelations, with one Twitter user writing: “Drake’s 29 now, so he’s been in love with Rihanna for 7 years…….I’m not crying….YOU’RE CRYING.”

While another said: “Drake just admitted he’s in love with Rihanna.  AND WE ARE OFFICIALLY WRITING FROM THE GRAVE.”

This week, Zayn Malik allegedly threw shade Taylor Swift's way – retweeting a message that implied the songstress is more focused on making money than using her fame for good.

It was a move that prompted Tay-Tay's boyf Calvin Harris to launch a full-on attack on the former One Directioner… though the Scottish DJ later relayed somewhat, complimenting Mr Malik on his "great voice".

Still, it's certainly not the first time that 25-year-old Ms Swift has been involved in a tiff. In fact, trouble and feuding seems to follow the singer-songwriter.

Here, we chronicle the highs and lows of her top six fall-outs:

Taylor Vs Katy:

The original feud! We can hardly remember what kicked it all off at this stage – something to do with Katy, 30, allegedly stealing her former friend's dancers for a world tour (why were the dancers so eager to leave, we'd like to know).

And even now, it seems it's the stand-off that refuses to die-down.

In fact, just late last month, Ms Swift brought on stage with her during a concert in Massachusetts an over-sized shark – a prop Katy famously used during her Super Bowl performance. She evidently thought it was hilarious; others were less enthused.

Of course after Taylor's high-profile Bad Blood video, we're guessing that a kiss-and-make-up scenario isn't on the cards anytime soon.

Taylor Vs Miley:

We love that Ms Cyrus, 22, speaks her mind – and speak her mind she certainly did during a recent interview with Marie Clare.

“I don’t get the violence revenge thing,” the singer said referring to Taylor's Bad Blood video. “That’s supposed to be a good example?

"And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my titties out? I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns.”

Now, HollywoodLife.com reports that Ms Swift knows Miley doesn't like her (FYI: Katy and Ms Cyrus are mates – and Tay-Tay thinks the former turned the latter against her).

In fact, Swifty is SERIOUSLY concerned that the Wrecking Ball singer is going to have a pop at her at the VMAs in two weeks' time: Miley is presenting; Taylor is up for nine awards.

We can't wait.

Taylor Vs Nicki

Speaking of the VMAs – Taylor was left red-faced when she assumed Nicki Minaj's VMA Twitter rant was about her (it's not always all about you, Tay-Tay).

Ms Minaj, 32, had been complaining that her mega-hit Anaconda didn't get a Best Video nomination (which actually does seem a bit strange).

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies," her online complaint began, "you will be nominated for vid of the year." Cue Taylor jumping in, taking it all personal.

Predictably, within 24hours Katy Perry just couldn't resist elbowing her way into the situation with her own online contribution.

Wowsers. Anyway – Twitter went properly into meltdown over the whole situation, and Tays later took a chill pill and admitted that she had probably jumped to conclusions.

She also invited Ms Minaj to join her on stage "anytime," (pretty sure the woman sells out her own concerts, mind). The duo subsequently seem to be on good terms – for the moment anyway.

Taylor Vs John

The Pennsylvanian singer and a guitar-weilding John Mayer had a brief romance – although things didn't end too well. Then she wrote a song, Dear John, which he claims is a bit mean.

Lines include: "Don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?" and "I lived in your chess game, but you changed the rules every day."

These days, Mr Mayer says she just ignores him.

"You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best, being avoided by Taylor Swift," the 37-year-old said while hosting the Late, Late Show back in February.

John and a certain Katy Perry, of course, have had an on-off thing since 2012 – which probably doesn't help matters.

Taylor Vs Apple and Spotify

Taylor famously withdrew her music from Spotify because she says they weren't giving her enough dough – though the likes of U2, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney don't seem to mind. Anyhoo, her argument is: "Music is art, and art is important and rare.

"Important, rare things are valuable. Valuable things should be paid for."

So, what's the alternative? Well, funny you ask… because in early June Apple began its music streaming service – a platform that, until Tay-Tay bemoaned its payment policy just a few weeks after its launch, many folk were unfamiliar with.

"We don't ask you for free iPhones. Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation," she said in an open letter.

The tech corporation quickly did a U-turn, as confirmed by executive Eddy Cue on Twitter.

And so in the end everyone involved seemed rather happy – especially the woman herself, who just days after the incident announced that she'd be releasing her mega-selling 1989 album… on Apple. Yup, everyone's happy, so.

Taylor Vs Tina Fey AND Amy Poehler

We hardly know where to look – comediennes Tina and Amy are living legends, after all. But a couple of years ago, Swifty just didn't find them all that funny

Why? Well, the duo were hosting the Golden Globes in 2013, peppering the gig with plenty of tongue-in-cheek gags. Over the course of the evening, they even made fun of Miss Taylor's dating history.

Tays didn't seem to see the funny side though and later told Vanity Fair: "there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

Ouch.

In contrast, for example, the likes of Hollywood legend Leonardo DiCaprio managed to smile and say nadda at the receiving end of similarly scathing remarks.

Indeed, last year he did just that when Ms Fey announced his arrival on the Golden Globes stage with the properly hilarious: “And now, like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio…"

The Liquor Rooms on Dublin’s Wellington Quay have been nominated in this year’s Best New International Cocktail Bar category for the Tales of the Cocktail 2014 Spirited Awards.

The Liquor Rooms are the first Republic of Ireland cocktail bar to ever receive a nomination in the awards, so it’s a pretty big deal! Especially since these awards were set up originally to recognise the best bars, bartenders and spirits professionals from all across the globe.

Harry Styles was a big winner at last night’s NME Awards, although it probably wasn’t the type of award he is used to. The One Direction star came away with Villain of the Year – aww, poor Harry!

Harry wasn’t the only one targeted though – The 1975 won the award for Worst Band.

Artic Monkeys continued their winning streak, following last week’s Brit Awards, leaving with five awards last night, including Best Album and Best Band.

Surprisingly, Lily Allen beat David Bowie, Kanye West and Paul McCartney to walk away with Best Solo Artist. We have to say we were not expecting that! Her new album Sheezus, a homage to Kanye’s Yeezus, is expected to be released this summer.

Blondie was honoured with a Godlike Genius Award – now that we definitely agree with!

However, thanks to talented make-up artist Stephen Prouty, Johnny Knoxville’s creation, Bad Grandpa, could bag them an Oscar.

Prouty is up for the Academy Award for Makeup and Hairstyling. He only had praise for Knoxville when talking about the work they did: “he’s completely covered with make-up and also has to introduce the narrative of the story in it. It was super-impressive.”

Have a look at the trailer to see the amazing transformation that will hopefully earn Prouty the much-deserved Academy Award.
