angela scanlon

She looks like an Irish cailin if there ever was one.

And now Angela Scanlon has shown us all how much her homeland means to her.

The 34-year-old had posted on her social media about the annual heading-home-for-Christmas and it's made us all a little proud of our country.

The TV presenter might hail originally from County Meath but she has called the UK her home for a number of years now.

However, that all changes when it comes to Christmas.

Angela took to Instagram to post a stunning image of her sitting somewhere on the Wild Atlantic Way, looking out at the sea.

She captioned it, ''We’re not quite there yet but that trip home for Christmas is one of my favourite of the year. Excess baggage, mammoth to-do lists, frantic meet-ups, lingering hugs (sounds creepy) and pints in Grogan’s.''

She continued, ''And then…QUIET. After a few days eating my weight stuffing and penny sweets I get cabin fever and need OUT! Cliff walks and forest rambles and 50 shades of green. I feel like an American tourist let loose.''

Her followers couldn't agree with her more and the comments section was buzzing with how great the Emerald Isle is at this time of the year.

One said, ''Sure we can't help it! The more we're we're away from the aul sod the more we long to return!'' followed by a shamrock and green love heart emojis.

While another wrote, ''Ireland at Christmas is the best and my favourite place!''

Angela has welcomed her first baby this year with her husband Roy Horgan –  a little girl named Ruby, who will celebrate her first birthday in February.

We're sure Christmas in Ireland will be even more special than usual this year.

Angela, who wed husband Roy Hogan in 2014, shared a photo of herself, writing: "SO. I’ve been baking for 6 months now… and I’ve made a bun! It’s currently in the oven & will be ready by Springtime."

"We are so, SO thrilled (since I’ve taken my head out of the toilet bowl) and can’t wait to welcome a mad, wonderful little human into our world.  Really hoping he/she is ginger."

The Voice host, who will turn 34 in December, has been inundated with messages of support from social media users since sharing the news yesterday.

"AMAZING NEWS – Congrats to you both honey, it’s a very exciting time. You will be a fabulous mammy," wrote one.

Us Irish really are a unique bunch.

From the gift of the gab to our fabulous cuisine (crisp sandwiches anyone?), we’re a nation craic-loving, tea-drinking messers, but hey, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s all these quirks that give us our famous charm and quick wit – and to celebrate this, Panadol have launched its exciting new ‘This is what we’re made of’ campaign.

‘This is what we’re made of’ is a celebration of the unique formula that makes Ireland so different.

The campaign ties in to the fact that 6 billion Panadol tablets are made in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford each year and shipped all over the world and highlights the staff of the Dungarvan plant, who are the secret ingredients of Panadol, and the unique role Dungarvan has played in Panadol’s success.

As part of the launch, well-know Irish broadcaster, Angela Scanlon flew back to Dublin this week, where we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to chat about what exactly being Irish means to her.

Over the past few years, Angela's career has gone from strength to strength, and with a number of presenting gigs with the BBC already under her belt, the Meath native has had to adjust to a new life abroad.

But, while her career may have taken her overseas, she has yet to lose her Irish pride.

“Being away you really realise how unique that sense of humour is, that kind of slightly dry wit, a bit sarcastic, a bit cynical kind of and yeah I do miss that and I suppose like you say, since I've been away I've kind of become very protective of Irishness in a way that I never was before.”

“I've always been very patriotic and very proud to be Irish but it kind of feels like it's very much a part of my identity now and something that I kind of, yeah, protect quite a lot,” she added.

A nationwide survey commissioned by Panadol found that 'having the craic' was most the uniquely Irish characteristic, and this is certainly true for Angela.

After landing a job presenting the much-loved series, Robot Wars, alongside Dara O'Brian, Angela admitted their mutual understanding of Irish cultural was part of what made the filming process so much fun.

“I love him, and we have such craic doing the show, and it's brilliant.”

“We eat a lot, we drink a lot of tea, it's really nice, because I suppose with other Irish people there's a short hand, you know, those reference points, we understand what grand means in a way that maybe other people don't, we can laugh about the same things whether it's Dublin Superquinn sausages or turning off the immersion or whether it's good drying weather, all of those kind of quirky habits that came out in the research are things that we would definitely share, reference points that we have in common that aren't always necessarily there with other people.”

My penchant for a pink suit persists

Though Angela looks set for a long ans successful career in television, the star originally broke onto the scene as a seriously trendy stylist – and it looks like her passion for fashion isn't going anywhere just yet.

“I love Irish women's style, I think it's more an attitude that Irish women have and I think they bring that to their sense of style, they don't take it too seriously, they're allowed to have fun with it, and I think that's what fashion is all about, it's about kind of expressing your personality and your unique personality.”

And when it comes to designer labels, the style-savvy presenter still has love for her home nation.

“I went to see Simone Rocha’s show during London Fashion Week," before adding "I really like Joanne Hynes although I missed her show because I was working, she showed at London (Fashion Week) again for the first mine in a while. Emma Manley I really like. Richard Malone is another one in Ireland who is doing really good things.”

So, with such a busy scheduled in the UK, will we ever be lucky enough to get Angela back on Irish screens in the near future? – She's like to think so.

“Work in England is really busy for me at the moment so any opportunity I can get to come home whether it's something like launching this campaign or my nephews birthday party I'll always take that opportunity to come home, and work-wise I'd love to do more in Ireland, I think it's just a case of timing, and the right thing, and I'd be here with bells on.”

It's onwards and upwards for the Irish star – but don't worry, she always be “fiercely proud of being Irish.”

Katie Hopkins appeared on Angela Scanlon's Close Encounters, and honestly, it was the best damn thing ever.

Katie was mercilessly slagging off Angela and Ireland, but good ol' Ange had the best responses.

"As the Jesus of the outspoken I think it's important that I spread my messages whilst I'm still here on earth and one of those messages could be, never wear a legging," Katie said, before asking, "If you buy a legging from, say, Marks and Spencers. Do you have Marks and Spencers?"

To which Angela replied, "Yes, we do.  We also have electricity."

The conversation between the two women goes on a bit longer, but the Irish presenter bites back at ALL of Katie's ridiculous statements.

It's brilliant.

Two of our absolute FAVE Irish presenters are coming back for a reboot of Robot Wars.

Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon have been announced as the new presenters for the BBC2 show.

The bubbly pair will be filming in a new purpose-built arena in Glasgow which will see them get up close and personal with the teams and of course, the robots.

Speaking about the show, it was clear that Dara is excited to be a part of it.

“I am thrilled to be presenting Robot Wars,” Dara said.

“For too long, the schedules have cried out for a show in which dedicated amateurs, toiling day and night, handcraft sophisticated automatons built on the delicate interplay of hand-wired servo motors with custom-built circuit boards and fingertip motion control," he told VIP.

“Just to see them get smashed to pieces by a dustbin carrying a massive hammer. It’s war, and how I love it so."

Angela also seemed thrilled to be joining the reboot of the popular show.

“I’m so excited to be joining such a legendary show that, after all this time, still manages to make people squeal with joy,” she said.

“I cannot wait to see the robots in all their metallic glory playfully destroying each other!”

And we can't wait either.

Plunging necklines, barely-there lace and THAT tailored tux… last night's British Fashion Awards has left us with some serious wardrobe lust.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Victoria Beckham, Anna Wintour, Rita Ora and Lady Gaga were just some of the stars who took to the red carpet in London for the prestigious awards show.

Being one of the most elite fashion events of the year, it's no surprise that the awards night style was totally on point, and there were a few looks that totally blew us away.

Here's a round-up of our absolute faves.

Victoria Beckham
Proving she can still turn heads on the red carpet with the best of them, VB looked incredible in a sleek tailored tuxedo with silk detailing.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini
The thigh-high boots might not be to everyone's taste, but Cheryl got it so right with this sheer lace dress.

Mollie King
An unexpected style hitter last night, Mollie wowed in monochrome (as did the gorgeous David Gandy).

Angela Scanlon
Stylist Angela worked a Charlotte Olympia dress… and THOSE River Island shoes. Win.

Jourdan Dunn
Another monochrome wonder, this halter-necked dress is perfect for Jourdan's slender figure.

Lily Allen
Lily's petrol-blue lace dress matches her hair to a T – and we love that boxy Chanel handbag. Though she did don a VERY questionable blue raincoat later in the night.

Pixie Lott
Definitely a revealing choice, but Pixie pulls it off. Bonus points for the rose gold hair *swoon*

Rita Ora
The X Factor judge was a vision in velvet, with silver button detailing on her high-necked dress. Love.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely
What would a red carpet be without Rosie in a plunging dress? A safe look for the model, but it works.
