Research reveals our love of chocolate has gone too far

by

Research conducted by the British Health Foundation has revealed that 25% of 3,000 people asked would find it harder to give up chocolate than alcohol and even sex! Sounds about right, no?

The statistics were released ahead of the BHF’s DECHOX month which urges people to give up their love of all things chocolate for the month of March.

43% of people asked also admitted that they have hidden wrappers and lied to their partners about how much chocolate they have truly eaten – yikes! A further 33% admitted that they eat chocolate ‘secretly’ on the way home from work and 13% eat their fix once their partner leaves the room or even while hidden behind the fridge door!

Heart Health Dietician with the BHF spoke about the findings saying:

“It’s amazing the lengths we’ll go to so that we can hide how much we love our favourite sweet treat … That’s why we’re calling on chocolate lovers everywhere to give up chocolate and get their friends and family to sponsor them to take on the challenge. By giving it a go you could not only kick-start a healthier new lifestyle but help us keep more hearts beating with our life-saving research.”

Would you be able to give up your chocolate fix for an entire month?
