Rapper is in hot water after being sued for stealing music

Drake is reportedly being sued for $300,000 for using a sample of a jazz musician on one of his tracks without permission.

Jazz musician Jimmy Smith  featured on Nothing Was The Same track Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2

The track begins with a spoken-word section from the song Jimmy Smith Rap, recorded by musician  in 1982.

Despite Smith’s death in 2005, his estate claims that Drake not only failed to get permission to use the sample, but never even asked them in the first place if he could use it.

In the credits to the track, it says, “Speech sample provided by Christian Rich and Utters.”

The estate is now reportedly want to take Drake in court for over $300,000.
