Popstar welcomes first child with gorgeous Instagram snap!

It was no Ordinary Day for Vanessa Carlton yesterday, as the singer welcomed her first child, a beautiful baby girl!

Vanessa's husband, musician John McCauley, shared the lovely news on Instagram late last night with a picture from the delivery room:

The daddy-daughter photo was captioned, "Sid the kid, whoa!!"

Yesterday's news is all the more special as just fourteen months ago, Vanessa tragically suffered an ectopic pregnancy. Although the singer had to have emergency surgery on her right fallopian tube, doctors told her she would be able to conceive again in time. 

The singer took to Twitter this morning to thank fans and followers for their good wishes overnight, with a message reading, "Thanks for all the sweet wishes on our daughter. She's the quiet observer. We are in for it."

Vanessa had kept her fans updated throughout her pregnancy with regular posts on social media.
