Don’t panic, but Nutella changed its recipe (and people are raging)

There are some things in life that just shouldn't be messed with – your morning coffee, that mandatory hangover spice bag, and above all else, that little jar of goodness that is Nutella.

Whether you prefer yours spread on toast, dolloped on ice-cream, or hey, let's be real, straight from the jar – there are many ways to enjoy this magical creation.

It's versatile, delicious, and perfect just the way it is.

Which is why we were horrified to discover that the creators of the popular hazelnut spread have gone and changed the recipe with no warning whatsoever.

The new recipe includes an increased amount of powdered skimmed milk and sugar, which depending on the size of your sweet tooth, could be a good or a bad thing.

A spokesperson from Ferrero, Nutella's parent company assured customers that the new changes were not a cause for concern.

“The quality … and all the other characteristics of Nutella remain the same.”

However, it's been reported that the new-recipe jars contain a spread that is lighter in colour, which has led many concerned chocolate-lovers to believe that cacao levels have been sacrificed.

Needless to say, the change has sparked outrage across Twitter, and quite frankly, we feel their pain.

It's not broken; don't fix it!
