Miley talks romance and clean-living ahead of upcoming album

So, it’s fair to say that Miley Cyrus has gone through a number of transformations over the years.

From sweet pop princess to rebellious trendsetter, the singer/ actress really has gone from one extreme to the other.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the 24-year-old opened up about falling back in love with her old flame, Liam Hemsworth and her recent decision to quit smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol.

Miley also revealed that her forthcoming album has been heavily influenced by her relationship and today’s political landscape.

According to Billboard, her new single Malibu, is a love song about fiancé Liam – a song she felt needed to be released as people were “going to talk” about them either way.

“They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam.’’

“So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel’?”

The first started dating back in 2009, but their relationship broke down and the pair parted ways in 2013.

But after a few years apart Miley and Liam decided to give their engagement another go.

Miley admitted that she needed to make a number of changes in life following the split.

“Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognise you any more’.

“We had to re-fall for each other.”

Today, Miley has ditched the part-girl but admits it wasn’t an easy transition.

“I used to [resist change]. But I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it].’’

Although Miley’s new album features a political edge, the singer says it’s about opening up the conversation rather than “getting [her] album smashed in the streets.”

“I want to talk to people in a compassionate, understanding way, which people aren’t doing,” she said.
