From sci-fi to fairy tale: X-men star lined up to take on a fairy tale role

Hugh Jackman is tipped to play the villainous Blackbeard in an upcoming Peter Pan project.

After his brilliant performance as Wolverine, it is surprising to find the X-men actor take on a role like this.

His character will replace the traditional part of Captain Hook in Joe Wright’s upcoming Peter Pan origin movie, which goes by the name of Pan.

Although a very credible actor, it looks like Jackman was not the first choice for the role.

According to Variety, the Oscar-winning Skyfall villain Javier Bardem passed on this role for a Warner Bros project.

Pan is due for release on June 26th 2015 and if confirmed, Jackman will be the first piece in the casting puzzle for the project. There will be an open casting to find another actor to play the leading role of Peter Pan.

The future looks busy for the 45-year-old actor, as he will also be taking on the role of Wolverine for the seventh time in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
