Bono’s getting a new – wealthy! – neighbour

With Demi Moore putting her incredible three storey, 15-room apartment on the market for a cool €70million – Bono will shortly be getting a brand new neighbour.

Not the U2 frontman will be forced to rub shoulders with a stranger; the penthouse properties are located in the famed San Remo building and boast wraparound terraces, 650sq metres of opulent living space overlooking Central Park, and maximum privacy and security.

Bono currently has ownership of the North Tower, which he purchased in 2003 from Steve Jobs, with Ms Moore deciding to part ways with the South Tower.

The 52-year-old actress bought the residence with her former husband Bruce Willis in 1990 along with a two-bed, two-bath maisonette on the ground floor of the building – which is also included in the sale.

“I’m spending the majority of my time in my other homes, and this apartment is too magnificent not to be lived in full time,” Demi told the New York Times.

The maintenance fee on the penthouse alone is an astonishing €16,900 a month – but with panoramic park, river, and city views the 90-year-old building is one of the most desirable in the Big Apple.

Residents over the years include Dustin Hoffman, Tiger Woods, Diane Keaton, and Steven Spielberg – though Madonna is reported to have been rejected by the residents’ board when she tried to buy a place there back in 1985.

Bono’s actress daughter Eve Hewson (23) is currently filming in New York, while the rocker himself has also spent considerable time across the pond in recent months, recuperating following a bike accident in the city that needed surgery. The Hewson family also have abodes in the south of France and Dalkey in Dublin.

Demi Moore was married to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000 and it is believed to have been given the property following their divorce. When she was married to Ashton Kutcher the pair also made regular use of the apartment, but she hasn't lived there recently and it seems the actress is now eager to cut ties.
